“Please tell me yes, darling, then we’ll go inside and have some supper.”
Her eyes sparkled, and he felt her raspy breath but got no answer from her. Her silence was a yes, and right before he took her lips, she closed her eyes in anticipation and silent agreement to his request.
Thank the Lord.
Her mouth was warm and silky. Her taste and her own desire filled him as he devoured every inch of her mouth. What started out as slow and gentle soon turned into erotic and hot. He couldn’t get enough, and the feel of Anna’s hands touching him, caressing him, and battling for control of the kiss caused his cock to throb against the zipper of his pants.
Wyatt reached down to the hem of her shirt, wanting to feel more of her skin against his own. The moment he touched the bandage, he paused unconsciously, angry at the fact she had such intense injuries. Anna took that moment to pull away.
They were breathless but held one another’s gaze.
She covered her mouth with her hands. He saw the tears fill her eyes then her turn away from him. Her shoulders shook, and she held herself. He damned his reaction to the bandages.
“Anna. I’m sorry.” He reached for her, but she held her position. Her head was down, and then he heard her sobs.
* * * *
It had been a perfect kiss. One that made her insides coil, her toes curl within her sneakers, and her panties wet. It was ruined the moment Wyatt touched her bandages and tensed. He didn’t want to touch her. He didn’t really care. Her father, her past ruined everything, even this special moment between her and Wyatt.
She couldn’t control the deep sobs that racked her body. Then, suddenly, she heard him whisper, plead for her to look at him, but she feared what she would see. She gave so much in that kiss. She took a chance and allowed the sensations to run and be free. What did he really want with her?
Anna felt his arms around her, then the sensation of being lifted off the ground. She was in his arms an instant later.
“Anna, baby, look at me, please,” he asked, and when she gazed up, she was shocked at the sadness reflected in Wyatt’s eyes. I must be losing my mind. She figured as much as the embarrassment kicked in, and his strong arms felt too good to not continue to desire.
The smell of his cologne, the slight hint of cigar tobacco filled her senses. He was manly and sexy, and she needed him this close. Anna held on as Wyatt squatted to reach her bag then stood in a quick motion with little effort, despite the fact that he held her in his arms.
They walked across the yard. The sun was no longer in sight, just the imprints in the sky of its path upon setting.
“What’s wrong? Is she okay?”
She heard Charlie’s voice, then Ben’s, as Wyatt reached the doorway.
They must have exchanged some silent understanding or comments that she didn’t hear because they simply stepped out of the way as Wyatt entered the doorway with her in his arms.
She kept her face again
st his chest, not wanting the others to see her so helpless and so upset. “Just bring me to my room and leave me here, please,” she thought to herself as Wyatt placed her down on a bed.
The room was huge, and the bed just as big and covered with fluffy pillows. The suede comforter was gorgeous and masculine, just like Wyatt.
He sat next to her with one arm over her waist. Then he reached for her, she closed her eyes and felt him gently caress the tears away.
When she opened them, three sets of dark brown eyes looked back at her. They were filled with concern. The air was so thick it was practically suffocating her.
“Is this the guest room?” she asked, damning her voice for cracking.
“No. This is my room,” Wyatt stated.
She swallowed hard and tried to sit up.
“I thought you said that you had a guest room for me to use?”
“After you just tried to sneak off to town alone, I’m not taking any chances,” he replied.
“What?”
“She did what?” Ben, then Charlie, asked.
