“She can, and she will.”
“Not if I have anything to say about it.”
We weren’t getting anywhere and the clock was ticking, so I simply replied, “I tell you what. I’m going to give you the night to think about that.”
“What the fuck’s that supposed to mean?”
“You’ll see.” I cocked my brow. “I’ll be back tomorrow, and we’ll discuss things from there.”
“I’m not going to change my fucking mind,” he barked. “Rebecca and Cat are mine. You can’t fucking have them! Not now. Not ever.”
“We’ll talk tomorrow.”
I gave Ronnie a nod, then he followed me out of the room. Once we were out in the hall, he looked over to me and asked, “You want me to see that he gets the works?”
“Absolutely. And make sure I’m on the visitors list for tomorrow. I’ll be here first thing.”
“You got it.”
Once he’d gotten me back outside, I turned to him and said, “Thanks, Ron. I appreciate this.”
“Anything for you, brother.”
He slapped me on the shoulder, then turned and headed inside.
As I started back to the clubhouse, I didn’t have a good feeling about Trevor. The guy was an even bigger dickhead than I’d expected, and I had my doubts if he could be convinced to leave Bec and Cat alone.
In the end, it wouldn’t matter. Trevor was done fucking with them. I’d make sure of it one way or another.
When I returned to the clubhouse, the guys had already eaten and were sitting around the fire. Several had their ol’ ladies at their side, which had me wishing Bec was here.
I didn’t know why I hadn’t called her. I wanted to but felt like my focus needed to be on my boys, especially during such a precarious time. But as I stood there watching Shotgun and my brothers bantering with Remington and the other girls, I was beginning to think that might’ve been a mistake.
I was about to take out my phone and call her when Axel came up behind me. “You take care of that something that needed taken care of?”
“Working on it.”
“You gonna fill me in on what the fuck’s going on?”
“Yeah, but I don’t wanna hear any shit about it.”
“Well, that doesn’t sound good.” I gave him one of my looks, and he immediately held up his hands in surrender. “Okay, I’ll keep my mouth shut.”
I gave Axel a quick rundown of the history between Trevor and Bec and how he was in prison for trying to brutally murder her and Cat. That alone had him riled up. Then, I told him about Trevor pushing to see Cat and that he’d gone so far as to get his own mother to kidnap Cat and bring her there. “You gotta be fucking kidding me.”
“No joke. This guy is a real whack job.” I let out a deep breath, then added, “Now he’s sending the kid letters and gifts. Says he’s gonna take Bec to court and force the whole visitation thing.”
“You think there’s any way that could happen?”
“No clue, but I’m not taking any chances.”
“So, what exactly are you going to do?”
“I had a little chat with him today. He wasn’t very receptive, so he’ll have some visitors in his cell later. I’m hoping they can convince him to listen.”
“And if they don’t?” The expression on my face was the only response he needed. He gave me a nod, then said, “Seems to me the asshole has it coming.”
“That he does.”
Axel turned and looked over at the brothers, then asked, “You gonna come have a beer?”
“Yeah, just gotta make a call first.”
“All right then. I’ll leave ya to it.”
Once he walked over and joined the others, I pulled out my phone and tapped in Rebecca’s number. It only rang a couple of times before she answered, “Hey there, stranger.”
“Hey there, yourself. How ya making it?”
“Better now.” She inhaled a quick breath. “You’ve had me a little worried.”
“Sorry about that. Had a lot going on at the clubhouse.”
“Yeah, Cat told me.” She giggled. “I can’t believe she called you. I don’t know what she was thinking.”
“I’m glad she did. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known it was her birthday.”
“She told you about that, huh?”
“She told me about lots of things, but that’s neither here nor there. I was actually calling to see if you two would like to come over to my place for dinner tomorrow night. I could grill some steaks or burgers. You name it.”
“We’d love to. Cat was just talking about wanting to see where you lived.”
“Well, now you both will get to see it. I’ll text you the address, and you two can head over around five-thirty or six.”
“That sounds great.”
“Good deal. I’ll see you both tomorrow.”
I hung up the phone, then walked over to join the brothers by the fire. After a couple of beers and a few crazy stories from Country and Lynch, I was ready to call it a night. I said my goodbyes and headed inside to my room. With big plans for the morning, I wasted no time getting undressed and into bed.
