“Believe it,” I growl. “Because you’re mine now. I’m going to fuck you every single day for the rest of our lives. We’re going to live our lives out together. You’re my leading lady, now.”
She leans in to kiss me gently, and after the heat of the moment, it feels so loving. It fills me with a sense of calm that my life has lacked for so long. All the chaos of being famous has made this hard to believe, but I love it.
But outside, I hear a car pull up and I frown. No one should be here at this time. I get out of the bed and pull on my boxers. Skye clutches the sheets to her chest, looking upset.
“You’re leaving?”
“I’ll never leave you,” I say protectively. “I just want to know what’s going on outside.”
I open the trailer door and look outside. I see two figures in the early evening light. One of them is Miles, the boy from the cameras. He’s talking to someone, but he looks up when he sees me. He points at me.
“There he is,” he snarls. “He’s in there with the runner. There’s your big news story.”
I realize my mistake right away. I shouldn’t have shown my face, especially when I’m barely dressed. Miles has brought the paparazzi here.
And now our secret is about to go public.
Chapter Four
Skye
I watch in horror as Brody slams the door to the trailer and begins to pace up and down. I have no idea what’s just happened, but it seems like it can’t be good.
“What’s wrong?”
“Your buddy Miles,” he growls. “He’s brought paparazzi here. They’re going to tell everyone about you and me.”
I feel my heart skip a beat. I know that’s going to make things complicated for us. We’ve only just met, so it’s not going to look good to people reading about us.
But maybe it doesn’t matter. After all, Brody and I are going to be together forever now. We’re going to have a baby. I’m going to have to get used to being in the spotlight with him, no matter what happens. I take a deep breath, looking Brody in the eye.
“It’s okay.”
“Skye...you don’t have to pretend to be fine with this. This isn’t fair to you.”
“Well, I would have liked things to have gone differently, sure. But it doesn’t matter. I want to be with you, Brody. This all comes with the territory. Maybe the best thing we can do is go out there and tell our side of the story. We can control the narrative that way. That way Miles doesn’t win. That way, this is on our terms, not his. I know he’s done this because he’s angry I rejected him but... let him do what he wants. You and me, we’re going to be happy. We’re going to spend the rest of our lives together. Let’s let the world know our intentions.”
Brody cups my cheek in one of his hands and I feel safe beneath his touch. “I don’t want this to ruin things for you,” Brody growls protectively. “Being in the public eye can be very stressful. Are you sure you want to take this on?”
“I want to be with you,” I say firmly. “That’s all I care about. You and me.”
“That’s all I care about too,” Brody growls. He leans in and kisses me hard. “Let’s do this.”
Brody
We both dress as quickly as we can, and then I find myself reaching for Skye’s hand. She smiles at me and I realize just how perfect she is. She’s so brave, facing this whole thing head-on. I guess it’s one of the reasons I love her. She isn’t scared to be herself. She’s been honest with me since the start. And now that she’s mine, she’s willing to do anything to be with me. And I’m going to spend the rest of my life protecting her and loving her.
“Are you ready for this?” I ask her. She nods.
“I’m ready.”
We step out of the trailer together, hand in hand. It’s dark outside now, but the flashing of cameras light up the night. I resist the urge to shield my eyes, remaining stony-faced. I feel my blood boil when I spot Miles. I want to beat the shit out of him for putting Skye through this, but I hold myself back. The last thing she needs is for me to get arrested and for it to be all over the news. No, she’s only safe with me by her side. As angry as I am, I have to take control of this whole thing. I glance around at the cameras, simmering in annoyance.
“You want a show?” I growl. “Well, here’s a show.”
I pull Skye close to me and she smiles, knowing exactly what I’m about to do. I kiss her hard, grabbing her ass and pulling her close to me. The paparazzi are going crazy, taking pictures, but I don’t care. Because Skye was right. If we are going to be together forever, then the media will never stop. They’ll want to capture our amazing chemistry on camera every second of every day. We’re going to be the new it couple who fans everywhere fawn over. And sure, people will judge our age difference. They’ll shun us for being happy together. But I don’t care what anyone else thinks. It may as well just be me and her in the world and no one else.
