“Seven o’clock.”

I glance at my watch. “Let’s eat and then I’ll drive you to see him.”

“You sure? I don’t want to put you out. I can—”

“Cam, you need to understand something right now. You’re mine, which means whatever you’re going through is mine. Whatever you need, I’m going to make sure you have it. You are not nor will you ever be a burden to me.”

Her gaze softens and her eyes gloss over, filled with emotion. “Thank you.” She leans over and kisses me. “I would really like to see him. I wish you could go inside with me, so you could officially meet him. I’m going to tell him about you today. I think it’ll make him feel better to know I’m not so alone anymore.”

After we finish eating, we head up north so she can visit her dad. She’s in there for about an hour and when she comes out, her face is puffy and her eyes are rimmed red. Because I’m not on the approved list, I’m waiting outside on the bench, dealing with work shit. When I see her heading toward me, I jump from my seat and go straight toward her. She wraps her arms around me and presses her face into my chest.

“What’s wrong?” I ask, pulling back and tilting her face up.

“Nothing.” She shakes her head, and I sigh in relief. “I’m just emotional. I told him about us and at first he wasn’t too happy because of the age difference, but after I explained the way we feel about each other, he was understanding. But then he said…” Her cries deepen, cutting off what she’s trying to say, and I’m almost positive my heart just cracked. I’ve seen Camilla sad, even crying, but I’ve yet to see her this distraught, and I don’t like it one fucking bit.

“What happened?” I walk us over to the bench and sit us down with her in my lap—I’m pretty sure the woman spends more time in my lap than in her own seat—and I love it. I also love that she allows it.

“He’s in there for fifteen years… maybe ten with good behavior. He got so upset, Isaac, saying he’s going to miss me getting married one day and having babies.” She sobs into my chest and I run my hand up and down her back, trying to comfort her. It’s not the time, but her words have me thinking about our future, putting a ring on her finger, filling her with my babies. It’s too soon to be thinking about all that, but I can’t help it.

“I hate Clint and James,” she mutters. “They framed my dad and now he’s going to miss everything. Who’ll walk me down the aisle one day? How will my kids know their only grandparent? He’s stuck in there, while they’re out here continuing to screw everyone over.”

She sniffles loudly and pulls back, her eyes widening. “I’m so sorry. I wasn’t trying to imply we’d—” She groans and covers her face. “I’m such a mess. I haven’t moved in yet, so if you want to change your mind and run, I won’t blame you.”

I snort out a laugh because she kind of is a mess, but hell if I don’t love that about her. My mom used to always say my dad was her knight in shining armor, and I think a part of me would love to be that for her. “I’m not changing my mind,” I tell her, kissing her softly. But I am going to have this shit with Pruitt and her dad looked into. When it all unraveled, I stayed out of it since it wasn’t my business, but now that I’m with Cam, I’m going to make it my business. Clint and his spawn are shady as fuck and I wouldn’t doubt they framed her dad.

We get home and Cam suggests we watch a movie. “We can, but first we have something we need to do.”

She follows me to what’s now our room and glances around confused. “You going somewhere?”

I laugh at how adorable she is. The woman is lost in her own world. “You’re moving in.” I open the top box and pull the first thing out I find. It’s a picture of her and her parents.

“Is this my stuff?” she gasps, opening the box completely and digging into it.

“Yeah, I had one of my guys box everything up and bring it over here. The furniture and kitchen stuff is in my warehouse, in a storage unit, but everything else is in here for you to go through. There’s plenty of room in the closet and I’ll make room in the dresser.”

Her head pops up in shock and awe. “We’re really doing this? I’m moving in?”

Gripping the back of her mane, I pull her into my arms. “We’re definitely doing this.” My mouth crashes against hers and our lips curve around each other. She tastes sweet, like the best addiction, and I know there won’t ever come a time when I’ll grow tired of kissing her.
