“I agree,” Scooter says. “What would you do if you discovered something? Go to her and be like ‘I know how big of an asshole your father was when you were younger?’ Do you really think she’s going to open up to you then?”

“Not to mention how damn creepy it is,” Drew mumbles.

“Exactly,” Lawson says, agreeing with his brother once again. “Stalking is illegal.”

“You moved across the country to keep an eye on Delilah,” I remind him.

“I went to be close to Drew. It was pure coincidence that Delilah ended up at Brown for college,” Lawson argues.

“You lived closer to her than you did to me,” Drew says with a wide grin, calling his brother out on his bullshit.

“No stalking,” Grinch says, and the look he gives me leaves no room for arguing.

“She’ll come around eventually,” Tug cajoles. “Who can resist a handsome man like you?”

Several guys chuckle, and I keep my eyes on the man across the room. I know for a fact that he’s bisexual. He’s currently in a relationship with both a man and a woman.

“Don’t flirt with him,” Grinch says with a laugh. “His brain will explode.”

Tug laughs as he gets back under the squatting bar.

“I think—”

My phone rings, and I snap my mouth closed as I pull it from my workout shorts.

“Faith?” I answer, my excited tone giving away more than I’d like, considering our last conversation.

“E-Ethan?”

I’m on my feet immediately.

“What’s wrong?”

“Someone is following me.” Her sobs are loud in my ear.

“Where, baby? Where are you?”

All the guys in the room instantly go on full alert.

“I’m driving. I d-don’t want to go home. I can’t shake them.”

I rush out of the weight room, and I’m in a full sprint a second later.

“I’m coming, baby. Are they trying to run you off the road?”

“They aren’t getting that close.”

I race through the clubhouse and grab a set of keys from the rack, needing to beep the fob several times before I can determine which vehicle I actually have the keys to.

“Come to the clubhouse, Faith.”

“I c-can’t. They may try to hurt me once I get out of town.”

Right now is the only time I wished Cerberus property wasn’t so isolated.

She’s terrified.

“Stay on the line with me, Faith. I’m coming to you.”

“I c-can’t stop.”

“I won’t ask you to do that until I have eyes on you, baby. Stay with me.”

“You need us?” I spin around to face Grinch and the guys.

“Yes,” I tell him without hesitation.

I don’t know who it is that’s threatening her and causing her all these problems, but the fear in her voice makes it clear that I’m going to be distracted when I see her. I’ll need someone else to track down the asshole scaring her while I tend to her needs.

I climb inside the SUV alone and peel out. Two more SUVs are in my rearview mirror before I get a half a mile away from the clubhouse.

The entire drive into town, I’m talking to Faith, trying to calm her down. I’m pissed that someone is making her feel this way, but I wouldn’t be able to handle it if something tragic happened.

“I d-don’t s-see them,” she whispers as if she’s afraid that speaking louder will make them reappear.

“Just keep moving. Where are you?”

“Waiting at a red light on Main.”

“I want you to circle the block and drive toward Frisco’s. I’ll be waiting for you there. What did the car look like?”

“Black.”

I want to groan at how unhelpful that information is, but she’s in a situation she hasn’t ever faced.

“A sedan? A truck? Two doors? New? Older?”

I pull into the parking lot at Frisco’s and wait for her to arrive.

“It was a car. I’m close. Are you there?”

“I’m here, baby. Top of the lot.”

I know it would be best to have her drive around a little longer so the guys can track who’s tailing her, but I just need her safe and in my arms.

She pulls up, her car jerking when she shifts it into park before it stops rolling.

When I approach, her hands go to her face, and she begins to sob. The second I open her driver’s side door, I pull her from the vehicle and wrap my arms around her. I don’t know if it’s only because she’s scared or if she changed her mind after what she told me earlier. At this point, I just don’t care. I’m happy she’s safe.

“Description of the car?” Scooter asks as he pulls up in another SUV.

“Black car,” I tell him, looking over Faith’s shoulder as she clings to me.

He shakes his head, letting me know what I’m already well aware of. That’s not enough of a description to track anyone. There must be ten black cars driving by every five minutes.

I nod, letting him know I understand. He pulls away, parking a few rows over by the SUV driven by Tug. They’ll wait there, ready to help as long as I need them. That brotherhood is one of the greatest things about the club. They didn’t need details or an explanation before they were in front of me, wanting to help. They know if the roles were reversed, I wouldn’t blink an eye at doing the same.
