I curled my fingers around her hand and pulled her wrist up to my mouth. “Thank you.”

She lifted her gaze to mine. “I plan on keeping you around for a good long time.”

“I was almost as thoughtful as you were with picking out this one.” I grabbed the box with my other hand and flicked it open.

Her eyes widened. “Oh, Caleb.” More tears started flowing as she lifted her free hand to her mouth. “It’s so beautiful.”

“Kin was going out for a buying trip, and I asked if I could go along. I found this, then added a little something to it.” I took her left hand and slid the simple Art Deco ring over her finger. “Your name may mean the moon, but you always remind me of sunshine.”

She wiggled her finger and the sunburst pattern of gold and diamonds shimmered in the late day sun. “It’s so me.”

I lifted her hand to kiss her fingers. “I had to make sure the ring fit just how much I love you. I asked a jewelry to add a few moonstones into the design too.”

She launched herself at me, winding her arms around my neck as she kissed me fiercely.

Of course I’d had to ask her to marry me while she was nearly naked. Did anything else fit us more?

Rolling her onto her back, I grinned down at her. “Marry me?”

She pulled me down and wrapped her legs around me. “Yes. A thousand times yes.” She pushed at my shirt. “Now get naked, Mr. Beck.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

We laughed as I shed the rest of my clothes. Achingly slowly, I slid into her on the rainbow rug with late day sunbeams streaking over her wild blond curls. I propped myself up on my forearms to watch her face as she took me in again and again.

The glide of our bodies giving and taking from one another would never be anything but sheer bliss.

She shifted and pushed me over to ride me like the goddess she was. The easy pleasure turned into wildness. I gripped her hips and we raced toward that end that we could only seem to find together. As she arched her back, I fit my hand between us to push her over with a thumb along her clit.

I sat up to surround her with my arms, holding her as she shook and cried out my name while I followed her into the sun.

When my brain returned to my body, I slumped back onto the rug, dragging her with me. She was plastered against my side, her cheek pressed into my chest.

“Wow.”

“I know, right? Did you see angels?” she asked against my skin.

“Just a goddess,” I said breathlessly.

She laughed. “Well, that was a good answer.”

I grinned down at her. “Now that we have rings, you know my mom is going to bug us for a date.”

“Do you mind if we don’t do the church thing?”

“No. My family isn’t overly religious.”

She propped her chin on her hand over my heart. “That makes it easier. How does the winter solstice sound to you?”

“Sounds perfect.”

“Yeah, it really does.” She laid her cheek back down on my chest. “Caleb?”

“Yeah?”

She popped up again. Filled with endless energy, that was my goddess. “I’m freaking starving.”

I laughed as she dragged me to my feet. “Can’t have that.”
