Epilogue
Alyssa
A few months later.
I sit on the couch with my ginormous belly making it difficult to get comfortable. I’m in my second trimester now, and I can’t wait to meet my baby, to be honest. Being this big and bulky is a change, and I feel like a hippo whenever I waddle down the grocery aisle.
But my boyfriends think I’m gorgeous and make sure I know it. At the moment, Liam is behind me, rubbing my shoulders, while Bart gives me a foot massage. My two men have been incredibly attentive ever since I announced my pregnancy, and to be honest, it gets to be a little too much sometimes. They coddle me 24/7 and like to hover like insane helicopters.
“Can I make you some scrambled eggs honey?” Bart asks as he looks up.
I shake my head.
“No, I’m good,” I direct. “Back to the massage please.”
He grins.
“I just want to make sure you’re getting enough calories,” he says. “You’re eating for two, after all.”
I guffaw a bit but then smile sweetly.
“Yes, but it would be my third plate of scrambled eggs within the last half hour. If I eat more, I’m going to explode!”
“That’s okay,” Liam growls from my other side. “We’ll clean up the bits and then start all over again. It’s fine baby girl. You need to eat.”
I merely roll my eyes because my boyfriends are really into this pregnancy. They’re always making sure I take my vitamins, and both men join me for my doctor’s appointments. We have ultrasound pictures posted all over our fridge, and Bart and Liam also keep copies in their wallets to show anyone who happens by.
Yet, their obvious devotion makes me happy and I can’t help but grin goofily to myself.
“What is it, sweetheart?” Liam asks. “Tell us.”
I sigh with pleasure.
“Life is perfect right now,” I say. “Who would have guessed that the three of us would get a huge apartment together, and that we’d have a nursery perfectly kitted out for a baby? Plus, my dad wants to come by to take a look at the new space,” I say. “He’ll bring Josie and the baby, so how about we make it a big family lunch?”
Liam and Bart nod.
“Absolutely honey,” Liam growls. “We’re always happy to meet up with your family.”
“After all, Cyrus has come around and Josie always supported us,” adds Bart. “Your friend cum stepmom is amazing.”
I nod happily because everything’s settled in place. My dad’s fully on my side now, and we get along great. Not only that, but Cyrus is lobbying us to name his first grandchild after him. When I told him that it might be a girl, he wasn’t dissuaded at all and merely suggested Cyrette instead. What a funny name, but my dad will always be my dad.
Then I jolt upright as a weird ripple comes from within my belly. “Oh my God, a kick! Quick, feel!”
Liam and Bart immediately put their hands on my stomach and start chuckling when the baby gives them a good blow. To be honest, his or her movements have been getting more frequent recently, and I suspect that they’re itching to join the world.
“That’s amazing,” Liam breathes with a wondrous look in his eyes. “I still can’t believe our child is in your belly, honey.”
“I know. It’s wild, right? But totally amazing,” I agree. But then a wave of exhaustion comes over me. “Should we watch a movie?” I yawn sleepily. “I know I should stay up because it’s only seven, but a movie would be nice.”
“Or we could just go to bed,” Liam suggests with a wink. “That would solve the problem.”
I laugh. “No, let’s watch something. I’ll definitely fall asleep, but I’ll feel better about it because you know I hate going to bed super early. It makes me feel like an old lady!”
“You’re not old,” Bart says, pressing a fond kiss to my cheek. “You’re only twenty-six and that’s young. But whatever you want, honey,” he growls. “We’re at your service.”
But instead of selecting a film from Netflix, instead both men get on one knee in front of me. Suddenly, I’m totally awake and staring at them.
“Bart? Liam?” I gasp. “What’s going on?”
Bart produces a blue velvet box from his pocket and pops it open to reveal a huge diamond sparkler.
“Alyssa,” he begins. “We love you more than life itself and you’ve already given us the best gift by bearing our child. Will you do us the honor of becoming our wife?”
“We love you,” adds Liam in an emotional tone, his blue eyes stormy. “You mean everything to us, and we want you to be ours before God, man, and the laws of the land.”
I nod happily as tears spring to my eyes.
“Yes,” I whisper. “I’d love nothing more than to be your wife, Liam and Bart.”
