“Well, fine. I’ll just ask then. I was wondering if you would let me take you out to dinner sometime.”
“Really? After all this, you’re just now thinking about taking me to dinner?”
“Hey. A little deviation from the norm never hurt anyone.”
“I really think we’re doing this a bit backwards,” she said.
“Is there a complaint in there?” I asked.
She pulled herself up and placed her lips
against mine. A sweet, gentle kiss for the innocent look in her eyes. But behind her gaze was a sweet fire I’d come to know all too well, and if she granted me the option I would definitely enjoy getting to know it more intimately.
“I would love to go to dinner with you, Hayden.”
“Then it’s settled. I’ll pick you up Saturday night. I have it on good authority that you don’t work Sundays.”
“I really need to talk to Emilia about what privacy means,” Grace said.
“But you have to admit, her telling me where you were did sort of result in something magical.”
“Magical, huh? You think that’s what you performed here?” she asked.
“What would you call it?”
I rolled her over onto her back and peppered her neck with kisses. She giggled and squirmed as my hands danced around her sides. She squealed and kicked her legs as I tickled her body, watching her beautiful bosom jump for me. But the moment she reared up to try and push me off her, I captured her lips and cradled her body close.
“Perfect,” Grace said.
“Hmm?” I asked.
I pulled away to look into her eyes and saw nothing but happiness in them.
“You asked me what I would call it. What we just did,” she said.
I grinned as I brushed a small piece of hair behind her ear.
“I’d call it ‘perfect’,” Grace said.
“And here I thought you weren’t trying to inflate my ego.”
“And there goes the compliment,” she said breathlessly.
I smiled and planted another kiss on the side of her neck.
“You know you love it,” I said lowly.
And her responsive shiver told me everything I needed to know.
Chapter Twenty-Three
Grace
I was so excited to finally get to go on a proper date with Hayden. I stood in the bathroom mirror with my hair up, leaning against the counter so I could put on my makeup. I had the perfect dress for the evening. A deep orange with yellow hues that made the fabric look as if it was shimmering. Sleeveless, but it dipped down low in the front and gave him a tasteful view of the body he seemed to adore so much. I had a pair of yellow heels I was wearing as well as dangling yellow earrings, and I couldn’t wait for him to see me.
I wanted to make him speechless.
I’d been looking forward to the date all day. I had been watching the clock and counting down the minutes until the time I could start getting ready. I hadn’t felt this giddy before since my first date back in high school. It was my prom, and I was so excited for my date to come pick me up that I was ready an entire hour before he was supposed to show up.
