“So, how do we do this?” Drayce asked.

As expected, Caelan’s eyes snapped to his, a look of irritation crossing his features. His friend was so easy to poke at. “You’re an ass,” Caelan muttered and started to turn away.

Drayce grabbed his wrist and jerked him off balance so that Caelan’s chest slammed into his own. His heart fluttered as he noticed the various shades of blue in Caelan’s wide eyes. Had he never been so close to Caelan? The pale color was actually comprised of so many beautiful shades of blue, from deep sapphire to a soft baby blue. These were eyes to spend an eternity staring into.

“Kiss me,” he breathed, already moving his mouth closer to Caelan’s.

Their lips brushed so lightly, barely a touch of flesh and a mingling of their breaths before Caelan pulled back, his eyes darting to Drayce’s as if checking to make sure he was okay.

Drayce smiled and cautiously slid an arm around Caelan’s waist, keeping him locked close. “We can do better than that.”

They kissed again, each one a short exploration. Withdrawing in fear and returning in hope. Their lips pressed and a hint of teeth tugged at Drayce’s bottom lip. The first taste of Caelan hungering for something deeper. Fire flooded Drayce’s veins, and his head spun. He could be brave for Caelan, brave for himself. He swiped his tongue across the seam of Caelan’s lips.

A gasp left Caelan and he jerked away, eyes wide with shock. Drayce loved that he’d put that look on his face. Hunger, need, and surprise. His heart was racing. Gods, he was going to have a heart attack and he didn’t care.

“More?”

“Yes, more,” Caelan exhaled with a wide grin.

They came together so quickly their teeth clacked together. They laughed and kissed. Heat poured through Drayce as their tongues touched and then tangled. No more hesitation or fear. There was only desperate need and the purest joy.

Drayce reached up and cupped Caelan’s cheek, soft skin and silken hair sliding under his fingers. This was heaven. How long had he waited for this, never realizing that this was everything he’d ever wanted or needed in life?

Caelan’s fingers skimmed along Drayce’s chest and finally twisted in his shirt, pulling him even closer as if he were afraid Drayce was going to escape him. No escape. No leaving. His friend pressed closer. Drayce’s brain went into total meltdown when he felt the telltale brush of Caelan’s hard dick against his own. At the same time, Caelan moaned softly into his mouth. He’d thought laughing and kissing Caelan was the best thing in the world, but no, needy and horny Caelan clinging to him was now his number-one favorite thing ever.

A loud splash and hiss had them jerking apart suddenly. Drayce blinked, trying to clear his head while looking around to figure out what was making the noise. They peered over at the same time to see steam billowing out of the pot. Water burbled up and over the edge, splashing onto the top of the stove.

“Shit! It’s boiling over. Let me lower the flame,” Caelan said, his brain obviously working faster. Drayce was still trying to remember why they were in the kitchen.

Caelan pulled out of his arms and started for the stove. Drayce snagged his elbow and pulled him back so that they crashed into each other again. He captured his mouth in another draining kiss that took Caelan a moment to pull out of.

“Idiot,” Caelan murmured with affection before he made another try for the stove. Drayce let him go, but he followed close behind him. Now that they’d crossed this line with their eyes wide open, Drayce didn’t want to allow any space between them.

After reducing the heat, Caelan gazed at him. There was a blush on his cheeks, and his eyes seemed to struggle to hold his gaze. “Don’t you need to find your measuring dealies so we can add the rice?”

Drayce sighed. They were still cooking. He wasn’t hungry anymore. He wasn’t sure he’d ever feel hungry again. His entire body was soaring high, and he was positive he could survive on Caelan’s lips alone. But they’d promised to make food, so he had to find the measuring cups.

He worked his way around the kitchen, opening drawers and doors until he located a set of blue plastic measuring cups with metal handles all nested neatly in each other. He brought them over and held them up. “How much?”

“A cup?” Caelan replied, not sounding sure at all.

Drayce took a one-cup scoop of rice and poured it into the boiling water. Together, they leaned over and watched it disappear into the suddenly cloudy water and then looked at each other.

“More?”

Drayce nodded. “More.” He added another cup of rice to the water.

Caelan dug out a wooden spoon and stirred the mixture a couple of times. “How long do you think this takes?”
