“You’re right.” She’d been avoiding James like the plague.
Cora, James’s old lady, had … given her the lowdown on what she thought of her and her home-wrecking self.
Everything she did now, she did full of nerves, worrying if her actions were seen as potential husband-stealing. It was insane.
She hated it. But this was the life she had chosen and there was no use crying about it. She was the one who fucked up. No one else.
Sending Damon glances, she couldn’t help but enjoy his presence in her diner. She also happened to love to feed him. He was a good person to want to feed.
Chapter Three
Damon sat at his seat in the kitchen, watching Teri work. She was a master here. He’d always thought her talented, especially when it came to food. Her ability to weave flavors together without trouble, and they came out as perfect as they did, was a real talent. The burger she served him, pure genius.
Of course, watching her right now was also another plus for him. He got to see the curves of her ass. She had a nice ass. Glorious tits as well, but the apron she wore hid those beauties from sight, which was a huge downer. He liked her tits and ass, but he also liked talking to her.
She was a woman he’d always spoken to her face, never her body.
Kitty came around back, giving him a smirk. She saw way too much, and since Caleb had broken down that wall inside her, she’d truly come out of her shell. He shot her a glare, letting her know to keep her thoughts to herself.
“Beauty and some of the guys are out front. They said to load them all up.”
“How many?”
“Five.”
“Got it,” Teri said. She got to work loading up the guys.
Did Teri not like Beauty? He noticed the way she tensed at the mention of the club whore’s name. The guys loved her. They talked nonstop about how good she was at everything she did, but Damon wasn’t interested.
He’d enjoyed his fair share of club pussy. There was only one woman he wanted, and she stood right in front of him. If he reached out, he’d be able to cup that ass, press his face against the curves, and bite on those round cheeks.
His cock began to harden at the thought. Would she like him touching her ass? Spreading those cheeks wide and teasing her tight little asshole?
Suzie came around the back and wiped the perspiration off her forehead. “Waitressing is no joke.”
Teri chuckled. “Thank you so much for doing this for me. I really do appreciate it.”
“Don’t worry about it. It’s nice getting out of the office. Especially when it’s so hot. Have you heard from Anna?” Suzie asked.
“No. I don’t suppose you’d take a break and give her a call, would you? My office is through there. Go and put your feet up.”
“Teri, I don’t know how you run a business, but you take care of your people.” Suze went to Teri, kissed her cheek, and then disappeared into the office.
Just then, Kitty came back around, and Teri had already pulled the seat out next to him. “Sit,” she said.
“What? I’ve got to take out their food.”
“I can do it. You will sit your cute ass down. Rest and eat. That is an order.”
Kitty rolled her eyes, but Damon saw how grateful she was. Teri put a plate of food in front of her, with one simple order to eat it.
He watched as Teri grabbed plates and started to walk back through to the main diner.
“You either need to deal with that, or forget about it,” Kitty told Teri.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
They were silent as Teri returned, sending out more plates.
“Oh, come on, we both know what is going on here. You and Teri. Teri and you. Whichever one you want to call it. We both know you’ve got the hots for Teri. Why haven’t you … you know, asked her out on a date?” Kitty picked up a fry and shoved it into her mouth.
“It’s none of your business,” he said.
Kitty smiled. “You’ve got it bad.”
Teri returned and he saw her frown.
Worry rushed through him. He wanted to go to her, but with the way Kitty kept watching him, he kept his ass firmly in his seat as if it didn’t bother him how Teri looked troubled. It wasn’t his business, as usual.
He tried to stay completely relaxed and calm, but he felt nothing like it.
“We both know you’ve got feelings for Teri. She’s stubborn and she’s not the easiest woman to catch,” Kitty said. “You’re going to have to do a whole lot of chasing.”
“What do you know about her?” he asked.
“What do I know? Simple, she has immense guilt over the crap that went down with Dane and Lucy. She rarely visits the club, if at all. I don’t recall a time recently that she’s been to party. In fact, I don’t even think she has attended a get-together either, when the club hosts a party. She works her ass off here. That’s it. She spends most of her time here in the diner or at her apartment. Nothing else.” Kitty shrugged. “She’s hurting. A lot, but she tries to hide it. The only time you see it is if you look closely enough. You’ll see the crack in her armor. It’s not good.”
