She broke the kiss and teasingly smacked him in the chest again. His amusement faded and he cupped each side of her face, his expression so serious that her breath hitched.
“I love you, Mary. God, I love you so much that I’m nothing without you.” He leaned in and kissed the center of her forehead, then the bridge of her nose, each closed eyelid, her cheeks, then settled right on her mouth. “I love you and you’re mine. Always,” he groaned against her lips. “Always, Mary, just like I’m yours.” He lifted her off the ground and she wrapped her legs around his waist.
“Take me to the room and let’s christen that bedroom,” she said against his lips. “Let’s get started on the rest of our happily ever after.”
