Snatching him by the throat, I pull him up until his face is right in front of mine.

“Oh, don’t worry about that. I’ve more than made it up to Monet. That sweet pussy is delicious, and she’s crying for my cock every day.”

He blinks, and I nod. I haven’t had Monet yet, but I intend to.

“Stay away from Monet. Forever,” I clip. He nods, blood pouring from his lip. I should kill him. The thought strings through my head, and I look up at Pegs.

“We don’t need the heat before going after the Titans,” he replies, reading my mind. Nodding, I agree. I suppose we’re done here. Standing up, I turn to leave before I change my mind.

“Thank you. Thank you for having mercy,” he whimpers, and I come to a dead halt. This asshole insults my punishment by calling it mercy?

“Godric,” Pegs warns, standing beside me. I ignore him. Turning back around, I see red and want nothing more than to release all my pent-up anger.

“Is that what you think I was doing? Showing you mercy?” I growl, hovering over him like the fucking reaper. He begins to tremble, looking at Pegs to get control of me.

Mercy is not something I know anything about, and I won’t start now. Lifting my foot, I slam my boot into his face, throwing his head into the urinal, and he goes limp.

“Goddamn it, Godric!” Pegs hisses. Running to the side of the unconscious body, he presses his hands to his neck. “He has a pulse. Let’s go before that changes.”

Pulling my gun from my holster, I aim it at him and pull the trigger. The gunshot echoes through the bathroom, blood splattering all over Pegs and myself.

“Really? You couldn’t have warned me?” He stands up, his arms out wide. He snatches some napkins from the sink and wipes down his cut. I reholster my gun, the smell of blood and gun powder making my dick hard. God, that felt good. Monet gave him life by making a deal with the devil for the heart surgery, and the fucker turned his back. I just repossessed his beating heart.

“Let’s go before someone comes in here,” I state, striding to the door, Richard’s blood starting to crust on my leather. Shaking his head, Pegs follows me. Outside, we both get on our bikes. Pegs lights a cigarette, and I reach over and snatch it from him. Taking a long drag, I lean my head back and blow the smoke into the sky before handing it back to him.

“You’re a crazy motherfucker,” he says around the cigarette dangling from his lips.

“So I’ve been told.”

Monet

My eyes flutter awake at the sound of the door opening. Godric stands in the room, looking over me. Using the palm of my hand, I go to rub the sleep out of my eyes and realize I’m still wearing the mask I found last night. The smell of Godric’s cologne and sweat was so comforting, I must have just fallen asleep in it. I tug it off.

“No, put it back on.” His voice sharp enough to cut glass. I do as he says, pulling it back over my head. His stance is wide, head lowered, hair in his eyes, lips parted, fully dressed. His leather cut clings to his torso, a gun holster peeking out from just beneath. He emits a black energy that has me sit up and look at him with alarm.

“Is everything okay?” Did the attack on the Titans go wrong? When he doesn’t answer me, I slide off the bed and move toward him. His face is speckled in red. Reaching up to him, I thumb some off his cheek and inspect it.

“Blood,” I whisper, looking back up to him. “Whose?”

His shoulders rise and fall, his nostrils flaring. He looks deranged, like an untamed animal stands before me.

“Damian’s?” I guess, and he shakes his head. I smear the blood between my thumb and forefinger. He obviously wanted me to see it so it has to be someone I know. My eyes widen. Surely, he didn’t… Glancing back up at him, I whisper, “Richard.” He nods, and my mouth drops open. Stumbling, the backs of my legs hit the bed, and I fall to my butt on the mattress in a daze.

“Is he…gone?”

“Yes,” he replies sharply. My eyes fill with tears. I’m not sure why. The guy hurt me in so many ways, crying has to be my body’s natural reaction.

Slowly, he comes over to me, his hand cupping my cheek. The smell of blood and fresh air has me looking up into his eyes.

“You said you didn’t want to kill him, so I did it for you.”

I smile as tear slips down my cheek.

“For me?” I ask, my hand just above my heart, as if he gave me present. He took a life for me. Nobody has ever done anything so caring.
