“Please welcome to the show, Jameson Lewis and Peyton Mathews,” Greta Newlen welcomes us.

Peyton lets go of my hand and walks out first with a smile and wave. I get so caught up in watching her that I miss my cue. I hurry out behind her and we both take our seats.

“We are just so excited to have the two of you here with us today. I have to say I have always been a fan of your music, but I never would have dreamed you’d end up judging a country music talent show and alongside your ex-girlfriend supermodel, Viola Cortella. What’s that like working with her?”

I can feel the tension rolling off Peyton in angry waves. I should have told her. I was so caught up in getting her back I never even thought about it. I know I have fucked up. She shouldn’t have found out like this.

“Well, I wish Viola the best in her life and her career. We hardly knew each other. I barely remember taking her on a date.” I laugh. “The show is going great. We have so many talented contestants. Like Peyton here. Her last performance really moved me.”

“Well speaking of Peyton.” Greta touches Peyton’s hand. “We have a clip we’d like to show that airs on this week’s episode of the two of you. You coaching her and then some of that performance.”

Footage of Peyton and I working closely together on the couch during the rehearsal session rolls. My love for her is written all over my face. America has to know now that I love this woman. I touch my pinky to her thumb discreetly and she fidgets, moving her hands to her lap. Shit. She is so pissed with me. The screen changes to Peyton’s performance, showing her raw emotions as our eyes meet across the stage. Fuck me the intensity is oozing through the damn screen.

“My my. You two have quite the chemistry. Peyton, sweetheart, you know how to sell a feeling. If I didn’t know any better, I’d believe you were singing straight to Jameson.”

“She’s a rare talent,” I state quickly trying to steer the conversation away from our relationship.

“Are the two of you single? I’m sensing sparks here. Any chance of a behind the scenes romance?”

Peyton’s cheeks are burning hot. She wasn’t ready for a live interview she hasn’t been prepped on not reacting to questions. “Now, Greta. I’m waiting for you,” I tease, and she laughs.

“Could we talk the two of you into singing a little something for us?”

“Why not. Peyton?” I look to her and stand, holding my hand out to her. Her fingers are trembling when she accepts my help to get up from the couch.

I lead her over to the small area of the stage that is by the show’s stage band. There’s only one microphone meaning we are going to have to share and stand close together. The band starts playing an old Amy Grant song, Next Time I Fall In Love. I start singing and Peyton hits her notes beautifull

y. I can’t take my eyes off her. I can’t help but feel like this appearance and this damn song choice is a setup, but no matter, singing with Peyton is better than I imagined it to be. We complement each other.

We finish the song and the camera cuts back to Greta. “Thank you for that moving performance. You can catch their new show, Nashville Star, airing Tuesday’s on your local Pure Country Network.”

Peyton rushes from the set and I follow closely behind her.

Chapter 27

Nashville Gawker

OMG, I am squeeing! Did you catch a certain Wake up show this morning? I am dying over here. The chemistry between Jameson Lewis and Peyton Mathews is off the chains. HAWT! Peyson just may be my new favorite couple. I need this to happen. Click my link below to watch a replay of their interview and the duet they performed live. I want an album and a wedding and babies. People. Tell me you don’t love them?!

Chapter 28

Nashville Gawker

Stop the presses!

Sources tell us that Peyton and Jameson aren’t just falling in love behind the scenes of Nashville Star, but apparently the pair were childhood sweethearts. Check out this picture of Jameson and Peyton from high school. Their love story all came crashing down one night when a drunk Jameson got behind the wheel of his truck. He walked away with barely a scratch, while Peyton remained in a coma for a month, hanging onto her life by a thread, and she lost her unborn child.

This story keeps getting juicier. Will these reunited lovers get a happily ever after this time around? A source close to Jameson has said it won’t work out and that they were always doomed to fail. Guess we’ll have to watch and see what happens next. I for one am rooting for these two.

Chapter 29

Peyton

Getting back in the car after that ambush on the morning show about Viola, I don’t know whether I want to smack the hell out of Jameson or fuck his brains out right now to stake my claim on him. I sit back in the seat with my arms folded across my chest not trusting myself not to do something impulsive and crazy right now. Now I know why she seemed so familiar. I remember Ruby Jane mentioning how she couldn’t believe her brother would date someone so plastic.

Jameson slides into the seat next to me. I hear him telling the manager with us to seat his ass up front with the driver. I can’t look at him right now. I’m hurt and pissed off. How long ago were they even together? God, I am so dumb. He gave me his sad poor me Jameson story, and I fell straight on his dick like a desperate groupie eager for his attention. I’m pathetic. I’m no better than the rest of the women he’s fucked.

“Fancy, I should have told you. I’m sorry, but it doesn’t change anything between us.”
