It feels good to be back in my own territory.
The edge of twilight is upon us as we pull up to the house. I know Sara can’t tell much about it now, but tomorrow when she sees it in the daylight, I hope she likes the job the guys did painting it for her.
I know when I came back from Tiny’s and announced Marek and Harper’s death and that I was in charge the guys who stayed with me were unsure. I lost some members. They either went nomad or transferred to a different chapter. Those who stayed still don’t fully trust me but every day I am a step closer to making this club one they can be proud to call home.
Parking under the carport, I shut off my bike.
I help Sara take her helmet off.
“Wait here,” I order.
I rush to get the door unlocked and open, so I can carry her in properly.
Sara hooks an arm around my neck as I scoop her up.
“Fuck, I love you,” I whisper against her mouth.
“I love you most.”
“Close your eyes. No peeking.”
“Fine,” she grumbles sticking her bottom lip out, tempting me to bite it.
“Welcome home,” I announce, setting her down once we are through the kitchen door that is right off the carport. The kitchen has newer appliances and one of Reaper’s guys from his crew was able to refurbish the cabinets.
Sara’s eyes widen as her mouth stretches into the biggest smile.
“This is ours, for real?”
“Yeah. Take a look around. I’m going to grab our stuff.”
What I don’t say is, “Be right back, I gotta hide the cash Tiny gave me for the job I am about to do. A job you’d hate me for.” Guilt pricks at my insides but I push the feeling down as I shove the satchel of money in the outdoor grill and quietly close the lid.
I’ll put it in the clubhouse safe later.
Right now, I have one thing on my mind.
I find Sara in the nursery. Terror doesn’t like many people to know that he can paint as good as Bob Ross. He painted a mural of a forest with realistic animals on the largest wall of the room
“Wow, Danny. I don’t know what to say. Everything looks great. This is so perfect and beautiful.”
“You can change whatever you don’t like…”
She cuts me off with a kiss. Her tongue eagerly seeking mine out.
“Danny…”
“Yeah?”
“I think we have done enough talking, don’t you?” She nips at my bottom lip.
She doesn’t have to tell me twice.
I pull her into our room across the hall. I had our room done up to be fit for a queen. Sara loves black and purple. Boogeyman much like Reaper would also never tell a soul that he is good at home interior. The fucker picked out everything in the room down to the damn romantic flowers and candlesticks. The bedding though was all me.
Sara is frantically yanking on both our clothes.
“Slow down. We have all the time in the world.”
