“Half on top of me,” she clarifies. “And I was really warm.”

“And disgusted,” I mumble.

“Nope. Not disgusted.”

“Maybe we need separate beds.” I look over at her, finding her digging her teeth into her bottom lip to keep from smiling. “Are you enjoying this?”

“Am I supposed to be offended when my hot husband wakes up turned on because he’s holding my breast in his sleep? Are you listening to yourself?”

“You left off the part where we haven’t even kissed yet.”

“We can fix that now.” She leans closer to me, but the car in front of us takes their foot off the brake and inches forward.

“I’m not having our first kiss in the middle of afternoon traffic. Plus, if I get started—”

“Do go into detail. Please. Be as honest as you can. I’m sure that’s going to solve the problem you’ve been having since you woke up.”

I keep my eyes on the road, but I know she dropped her gaze to the front of my slacks. I felt ashamed for touching her without her permission, or hell, even her awareness because she was also asleep, but that hasn’t muted the fact that she’s still the prettiest woman I’ve ever seen. She turns me on like no one else, and I’m in a constant state of arousal around her. Even now driving in traffic, I can feel the throb of need behind the zipper of my slacks.

Yep, won’t last another day without at least taking a little of the pressure off.

“Do you like to tease me?”

“Yes,” she says without hesitation. “But it also embarrasses me as well. I can stop if you don’t like it.”

I take our joined hands and pull them to my mouth, pressing a soft kiss to the back of her hand. “Don’t ever stop teasing me. Were you turned on when you woke up this morning?”

“If by turned on you mean about an hour past the point of no return needing to pee, then yes. I was turned on.”

I’m laughing as we pull into the parking lot of the clubhouse.

“Wow. Do they have like meetings or something on Tuesdays? This place is packed.”

“There’s no consistency, really. It could be dead on a Friday night and have people pouring out of the front door on a Thursday afternoon. Things get a little crazier during the summer because of the pools.”

“Pools? As in plural?”

I grin at her as she beams from the passenger seat. “You like to swim?”

“I do, but the sun hates me.” She flicks a lock of her wild mahogany-colored hair. “Being a ginger and all.”

“Then you’ll probably really like the indoor pool.”

Her mouth hangs open. “Indoor?”

“Come on. I’ll show you.”

I rush out of the driver’s side, coming around to her side to help her down.

My hands are on her hips when she says, “I don’t have a suit. I may just have to swim naked.”

I nearly drop her. I can dismantle a bomb, shoot a moving target from a hundred yards away, but I can’t focus enough to get my wife safely on her feet when she mentions getting naked.

I cough, clearing my throat as I step away from her.

“I’m having so much fun. It’s so easy to rile you up.”

She swats at my chest, but I catch her hand before she can pull it away. I press my lips to the center of it.

“If you aren’t careful, you’re going to wake up in the morning with both my hands on your breasts.”

She throws a wink at me and starts to walk toward the front of the clubhouse. I hate the sight of all the vehicles parked around the damn place. It means we’re going to have—

“Surprise!”

Oh shit.

The party. It was supposed to happen yesterday, but we went back to her hotel and never left. Even the pizza was delivered. I owe apologies for not considering everyone else, but first I have to make sure April doesn’t freak out.

She’s tense beside me, hands covering her mouth as her eyes dart around the crowded room. Streamers and balloons hang from the ceiling. There’s a CONGRATULATIONS banner hanging on the far wall, and several of the kids are running around screaming as they chase each other. It’s complete chaos. It’s… Cerberus.

I pull her into my side, pressing my lips against her temple. “Don’t freak out.”

“Is this everyone?”

I look around the room. I don’t carry a list with me or anything, but I also don’t see anyone noticeably missing. “Probably.”

Legend is the first to approach, shaking my hand and clapping me on the back.

“April, you have your hands full,” he tells my wife.

Her cheeks heat. “I think Nate is the only one that can be accused of that this morning.”

I look down at her, mouth hanging open, and the little minx winks at me. I’ve been using that move as a distraction, and now she’s turned it on me. It makes me want to wrap my arms around her and swing her in a circle until she laughs and begs me to stop.
