“Oh, you wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”

Seth took Amelia’s hand and they started walking along the shore. He squeezed her fingers, and she smiled and squeezed back.

“Try me.”

“He was telling me how Marcus needs some kind of special education and how we should consider sending him to either New York, or London, or whatever.”

Amelia started laughing. “Not gonna happen.”

“I honestly don’t know how his twisted mind works.”

“Did you tell him we’ve started looking for teachers?”

“Yeah. That seemed to shut him up. He knows no teacher would refuse to move to Alaska for whatever time is necessary to work with the only nine-tailed fox-shifter in the world.”

“It’s hard for them to accept they’ve lost,” said Amelia. “They waited for Roman to die, then they tried to get rid of Blake… It’s an entirely different thing with Marcus. Their hands are tied, and it will take them some time to come to terms with it.”

“Yes, but until then, they’ll keep driving me nuts.”

They stopped to watch the river, and Amelia let her head fall on his shoulder. Seth sneaked his arm around her waist and pressed her against his side.

“It doesn’t matter,” she said. “Let them try whatever they want. We’re stronger than ever.”

Seth kissed the top of her head, then turned to kiss his son’s cheek. Marcus scrunched up his nose and placed his little hand on his father’s mouth, just in case he had the terrible idea of doing that again. He hated kisses.
