“You shouldn’t have put your skis under mine.”

“I was trying to keep you from sliding down the hill and landing on your ass!”

He was quiet for a long time before he pulled back, putting some very much unwanted space between us. I could see in his eyes long before he spoke that I was losing him again, only not in the way I’d lost him when he’d pinned me to the bed.

“Maybe falling on my ass would have made me figure things out a lot sooner,” he said solemnly.

I bit into my lower lip when Zach’s arms loosened. There was no missing his unspoken message. The memory of that perfect night under the stars morphed into that moment when I’d bared my soul to him beneath a piece of mistletoe.

“I love you, Zach.”

I pulled free of Zach’s hold completely and stepped back. I couldn’t stop myself from wrapping my arms around my waist. I mentally cursed myself for trying to mimic Zach’s touch and quickly dropped my arms.

“You need to lie back down. You might get dizzy and lose your balance or the migraine could come back—”

“I’m fine,” Zach cut in. “I don’t need you to take care of me—”

“Yes you fucking do! If I hadn’t, your ass would be lying in the street right now.” I pointed at the bed. “Lie back down.”

It was the exact wrong thing to say to the man because his eyes flared wide before narrowing again. “Make me, kid.”

My body seemed to come alive at that moment and I forgot all about the fact that he was my patient and I was supposed to be taking it easy on him. I reached for his arm and yanked, forcing him back onto the bed before he could get over his shock at my move. As soon as he realized what was happening, he wrestled me over until he had me pinned. This time, there was no fear as he held me down, only something… else.

Both of our chests heaved with exertion as I still fought to get the upper hand. Zach’s shirt had ridden up and the fuzz on his belly had my dick reacting. I sucked in a breath and tried to sink my hips into the mattress so he wouldn’t notice.

“What the fuck is going on?” Zach growled. “Why am I in your bed without any fucking clothes on?”

The fact that he was going to conveniently forget about the episode that had triggered him to attack me just pissed me off even more. Since I didn’t have the physical strength to match his, I went for another weapon that would hopefully do the trick.

“Tsk, language, Zachary. What would my fathers say if they heard you having such a negative influence on their precious baby boy?”

Fire burned in his eyes, and it made it hard to draw breath. I watched the gears turn in his head.

“You took care of me,” he said as if just remembering some of the details. “You… you fucking listened to my heart with a stethoscope and had a…” He peered over the side of the bed where I thought I’d done a better job of hiding my shit. “A giant medical bag? Lucky, what is this?”

My heart dropped. “Nothing. None of your business.”

He studied me like I was a bug under a scope. “Tell me,” he demanded, his voice dropping to that low, sexy level that would normally have me spilling my guts. It was at that moment that he looked at my neck and sucked in a rush of air. I used his momentary lapse to throw my weight against his as I shifted my body. We wrestled again until he was on his front on the bed and I straddled his ass. His very round, very tight ass.

Fuck.

“You want to share secrets?” I breathed down behind his ear. “You first.”

“Get off me,” he warned through clenched teeth.

I threw his words back at him, no longer caring if I was poking the beast.

“Make me.”

Chapter 5

Zach

It took less than ten seconds and two moves to get him on his back again. But this time around I had to be careful about putting my weight on him, mostly because my cock had decided it’d liked the feel of Lucky straddling my ass just a bit too much. I ended up using my legs to hold his still and then it was just a matter of waiting him out.

As sweet, innocent Lucky threw enough swears at me to fill a garbage can, I tried to process everything that had happened in the time since I’d been running across the street to save Lucky from some unforeseen evil.

The car had been trashed.

That much I remembered.

Lucky had said something about notes…

My brain began to pound inside of my head as I tried to think back to just before I’d blacked out. I gave up on my train of thought and focused on the squirming young man beneath me. Unfortunately, my eyes instantly went to his throat.
