“If you could fill out this information, Miss…” she stops like she expects my name to be something else.
“Mrs. Del Vecchio,” D answers, his annoyed voice forefront. It’s then I realize she didn’t know we were married. I almost giggle because she obviously was trying to flirt with him.
“Oh. You are his ...”
“Wife,” I say in my nice-nasty voice, moving closer to him.
“Of course. If you have a seat, the nurse will be with you soon.” She puts her head down swiftly. Diezal chuckles and I elbow him in the side.
“It’s not funny. I am going to grow big as a house and you're still going to be you, all brooding and sexy. It’s not fair.” I pout a little only because I know he can’t stand it.
“Put that damn lip back in before I suck it into my mouth right here in the waiting room.” Well shit. My pussy begins to leak drenching my panties. I lick my lips, aching for him to do exactly what he just said and then some. His hooded eyes meet mine because he can read my mind and I swear he is about to make me weep.
“Mr. and Mrs. Del Vecchio.” Damn it. He smiles and smacks my ass when I get up.
“Later, greedy girl.”
“Counting on it.” By the time I get undressed and on the table the doctor is already in the room.
“Diezal. I hear congratulations are in order.” The handsome older gentleman says as he shakes D’s hand then mine.
‘Yes. Thank you. This is my wife, Teresa. Teresa, this is Dr. Jorgensen.”
“It’s lovely to meet you,” I tell him.
“And you, young lady. Now, how about we see your baby. Have you been under a doctor's care before here?” Such a normal question, but it comes with a host of emotions and thoughts.
“No.” The simple answer.
“No worries. Let’s see what is happening shall we.” He puts this cold gel on my belly, and I feel my anxiety spike. It doesn’t hit me until this moment that something could be wrong. All that time with no prenatal vitamins and no doctor. Oh God.
“Ah. There we are. By any chance, have you been under a lot of stress lately?” His question does nothing to soothe me.
“She was doc. Why do you ask?” I squeeze his hand because I couldn’t find the words, so I am glad he did.
“Well, because there are two babies in here, and for her to be twelve weeks along with two bundles in here, she is abnormally small.” I know he said something significant, but my mind is stuck on ‘two’ babies.
“Did you say two?” D asks, his voice incredulous and low. I look at his face to gauge his reaction but when he looks at me, I see elation and pride. Thank fuck because all I feel right now is shock and fear. If I am small does that mean something is going to go wrong?
“Indeed, I did. I see two sacks and two pumping hearts. Would you like to hear it?” I should be responding but tears are spilling from me, and I can't seem to function. D wipes my face and kisses me.
“It’s going to be ok, baby.” he whispers in my ear before turning to the doctor. “Yes please.” With both his hands holding my one, we both listen at what sounds like a surround sound version of the aquarium amplified.
“Oh my God,” I gasp, my hand moving to my mouth. Hearing their little hearts goes a long way toward calming me and making this real. “Those are our babies, babe,” I tell him, smiling for the first time since we walked into this room.
“I know, baby. I swear to you I am going to be the best father ever,” he says, kissing my stomach.
“I already know that.” We forget for a moment that Doctor Jorgensen is in the room until he chuckles. I blush a bit.
“The nurse will be in here to take blood work. I am going to give you a prescription for prenatal Vitamins and a protein pill for the next few weeks to get your weight up. I also want you to eat three times a day and make sure you rest. Carrying twins is a bit precarious, made more so by your small weight, but it is not anything that cannot be remedied. I will monitor you weekly for the next six weeks. If everything progresses as it should, then we will have nothing to worry about. Any questions you have for me right now?” I shake my head because I have nothing right this second. My mind is still processing.
“Not right this second. If we think of something I will call you. Thank you so much.” He and D shake hands.
We are both quiet as the nurse comes in and I get dressed. It’s not until we get in the car that we both burst into a laugh. “Holy shit,” he says, rubbing my belly and looking into my eyes.
