He hated the smirk hidden in Taron’s beard. he spelled out.

Colin stood still, his throat getting so tight that for a moment he didn’t dare speak. “Oh yeah, I am a nice piece of ass. And in this world after the apocalypse you want so much, your gay prepper friends will be dying to meet me.”

The sudden tension in Taron’s shoulders told Colin all he needed to know.

Not so disposable then after all, but knowing just how much Taron secretly wanted him wasn’t good enough. Colin had too much poison on his tongue by now to just let it go to waste.

“We shall see. Maybe you should fight them for me? Because I’d rather live with someone who doesn’t think I’m a fucking shackle at their ankle!” Colin barked. “And who knows, maybe I’d like them better anyway. Maybe I could join a thruple for double the protection and resources.”

The fury with which Taron grabbed him by the jaw shocked Colin, but his heart had already been beating overtime. Taron leaned close enough for them to kiss, and despite his anger, Colin’s knees softened when the warmth of Taron’s breath touched his lips.

“Stop fucking around.”

“I’m being brutally honest. Just. Like. You,” he said stubbornly and tried to jerk his face out of the grip, but it was no use. The rough fingers dug into his flesh until it was so painful Colin stilled, clutching at Taron’s clothes.

“You want more cock or something? You’ll get plenty from me,” Taron growled, touching his forehead to Colin’s, his whole stance combative, as if he were going to war.

Colin shook his head, trying to push him away, but Taron not only backed him against the wall, but also slid his other hand down Colin’s pajama pants and cupped his crotch.

Colin’s brain couldn’t function anymore. Between the fury, disappointment, and the sudden rush of heat in his balls, he stared back at Taron, struggling for air. “I just want…”

What did he want exactly? Recognition? To feel safe where he was? For Taron to care?

And why? Was this all for easier escape when the time came? Because running away hasn’t been on his mind much.

Taron’s nostrils flared when he inhaled over Colin’s cheek. “What?” His hold on Colin’s cock became firmer, more insistent, and Colin knew it so well by now that it was hard to think about anything other than rocking his hips against that thick fist.

Colin swallowed, entranced by the forest-green gaze. Taron’s beard tickled his cheek and neck, triggering a chain reaction that had him getting to his toes. The outburst rubbed Colin’s ego in the most primitive of ways, but that couldn’t wipe away any of what he’d said before.

“You said you’d rather not have me here in the first place. So what’s your problem?” he whispered.

Taron grunted into Colin’s ear. “You said it yourself. Cats are also a liability. I’m not kicking them out, am I?”

The mixture of emotional pain and physical pleasure was becoming unbearable, and he grabbed Taron’s beard, twisting his fingers and tugging on it purposefully hard. “Don’t fucking call me that!”

Taron groaned, but slid his other hand to Colin’s chest. “Okay, okay. Asset.” He kissed Colin’s ear in the gentlest way, making the furious jerking off going on even more confusing. Still, Colin melted against him and frantically slid his own hand into Taron’s jogging bottoms. The soft fabric stretched over his knuckles, accommodating their shape--such a contrast to the hard, rigid dick that dragged along his palm, greedily demanding satisfaction.

He pressed closer and hooked one of his legs over Taron’s thigh, bringing their hips closer. “I hate you,” he whimpered against Taron’s lips before claiming them with a bite.

Their hands worked hard and fast, at one point joined in their rhythm, but Colin still got some satisfaction from the fact that he made Taron come first. Gasping for air, yet still hungry for kisses, Taron finished him off not long after. Colin wasn’t even sure when the harsh touch from before became the hug that it was now, but he held on as if letting go would mean drowning.

His nose was buried in Taron’s beard, and his hands moved up and down the firm back as they sat together, slumped by the cold wall. He wouldn’t have to quickly shower and leave for classes. He had nowhere to go, nowhere to rush to. He couldn’t remember ever being this peaceful in the arms of another man.

It felt good, and eventually, he pulled Taron’s limp arm around him. Perhaps this was the break he so much needed, but being here, away from society did not feel like wasting time. Life was not passing through his fingers, because it was right here—in the daily work they were doing and in the companionship of a like-minded guy.
