Eight
Ryan
It had been hard leaving Chloe last night. I’d tucked her in and forced myself to go. Once I’d gotten home, it was too quiet. I couldn’t sleep. Every time I’d closed my eyes, I’d remembered my sweet girl and the way her pussy clamped around my dick. Fucking her had been mind-blowing.
Due to the lack of sleep, the following morning I was grumpy as hell. Having Ian crowding me in front of my desk as I waited on an answer only pissed me off more.
My office was large with a view of the city through floor-to-ceiling windows behind me. There was no reason he had to hover over me.
“Did she show up?” I repeated. I hadn’t been sure she would.
“I said she’s here,” he snapped.
I narrowed my eyes at him. “Do you have a problem with me?”
“She’s a good girl, Ryan. Don’t fuck this up.”
“What’s it to you?” The words came out preceding a growl.
“Like I said. Don’t fuck her over.”
I sat back and thought for a second. “She’ll never accept me once she’s figured it all out,” I said.
“Trust me, she will. She didn’t let me in her apartment. You ride over there like her white knight and she welcomes you into her home. The poor girl is already in love with you. You have that effect on women.”
“You’re wrong about her.”
“And you’re blind,” he shot back. “By the way, I’m going to see Alexa.”
I steepled my hands. Alexa was a switch Ian and I had played with. It had been fun breaking her and getting her on her knees to bow before me, but she’d caught feelings. I’d had to let her go and she hadn’t been happy about it. She’d moved out of state to get as far away from me as she could.
“You can’t handle her.”
His eyes held mine. “We’ll see about that.”
I licked my lips. “It’s your funeral. Now where did you put Chloe?”
“She’s in the marketing department.”
“How does she like it?”
He shrugged. “I get the feeling she misses her job at the magazine.”
“And where do we stand on buying the company?”
“Your cousin was missing all weekend. His people couldn’t get in touch with him.”
I groaned. “No doubt he was trying to knock someone up.” If Chloe didn’t get pregnant, I was the one who’d be fucked.
“You could always try more than one woman,” Ian said.
I didn’t want anyone else. I was starting to think I didn’t care about Grandfather’s money. It wasn’t like I needed it. The only thing I’d wanted was to beat my cousin out of it.
My desk phone chirped, and my admin’s voice came over the line. “Mr. Witmore, you have a meeting in five minutes in the lower conference room.”
“Thanks, Tilly,” I said and got up and buttoned my suit jacket. Then I turned my attention to Ian. “Make sure she’s happy. Look into other magazines to buy if this falls through. I’m going to give her what she wants if it kills me.”
He nodded and I left my office. I took the elevator and when the door opened two floors down, I sucked in a breath as Chloe stepped inside. She gave me a shy smile, but two others got in with her.
My dick noticed her, and I was instantly hard. She was on the other side staring straight ahead as the two females giggled between us. They kept glancing at me, but I avoided their gazes.
Thank fuck the elevator stopped again and they got off, leaving me alone with Chloe. I didn’t have long. “How are you doing?”
Shyly, she turned my way. “Didn’t you say we couldn’t talk?”
Fuck that. I opened the panel and triggered the emergency button to stop the car. When I turned to face her, her eyes were large like those of a doe in headlights.
“Why did you do that?” she asked.
“So I could do this.” I yanked her to me so we were out of camera range and pressed my mouth to hers. Damn, she was so fucking sweet. She’d been chewing gum or something. But it was long gone, and my tongue took advantage.
“Mr. Witmore. Is there a problem?” came through the speaker.
I pulled back but didn’t let her go. “No.” I pressed the button to release our hold.
When the elevator doors parted, I let her go. “Meet me at Ian’s office at lunch.”
“But—”
“Lunch, Ian’s office.” I used my commanding tone and she nodded. There was no way I wouldn’t fuck her before this day was through. Otherwise, I would have the bluest balls known to man.
I adjusted myself before I stepped out. I made it to the meeting and listened to my team talk about our latest acquisitions. But when I saw Chloe walk past the glass-front conference room, all my attention went to her.
“Ryan.”
The voice came from an unfortunate mistake on my part. And Regina had forgotten her place.
