“I didn’t dare you,” I corrected. “I challenged you.”

“Same difference,” he retorted. “And yeah, I’d know. Who’s the one in advertising here? I can sell shit to a pig farmer.”

I laughed. “TMI.”

“How is that TMI?” he retorted with a cackle. “Just stating the truth. You can’t BS me with challenge and dares. You totally head locked me into getting drunk that night, and,” he stated with a pout. “You didn’t even take advantage of me either.”

I cocked a brow at him. “If I had, you’d be able to accuse me of sexual assault as well as plying you with alcohol.”

He rolled his eyes, then spoiled the effect of his morning glory by yawning. He rubbed a hand over his face then grabbed the covers and ducked under them.

I tensed, half expecting him to pounce, but he didn’t. He just lay there under the duvet.

I lifted it up and loomed over him. “Hey,” I

said softly.

“Hey.” He sighed.

“You okay?”

He scowled straight ahead, not looking at me. “Yeah. I’m good.”

“You really look it,” I retorted, tone drier than my favorite white wine.

“No, I am. How couldn’t I be after last night?” he asked, sounding so earnest I wanted to kiss him.

“Okay, so why don’t you look it?”

“I just don’t want to go,” he admitted, shrugging.

Despite myself, I was touched. I didn’t want him to go either, so it wasn’t like I could make him feel better about that.

But, the truth was, I’d been nervous last night.

Knowing that was the last evening we’d be together for who knows how long, I’d been nervous about ending it the way we had. However, at the same time, I was dead certain that I wasn’t letting him go any-damn-where without my having my wicked way with him.

That hadn’t meant I hadn’t felt insecure about his leaving today.

Last night had had no strings attached, but the truth was, I wanted him tied up in so many strings that he didn’t forget about me here.

That he came back to me.

“I wish you didn’t have to go too.”

He pulled a face, then, more to himself than to me, whispered, “It won’t be for long.”

I nodded, eager to affirm that. “Yep. Just a little while.”

He rubbed his eyes. “How did the time go so quickly?”

“Time flies when you’re having fun.”

His gaze pinned me in place. “We did have fun, didn’t we?”

I smiled “We sure did. And there’s plenty more where that came from when you get back.”

He reached up to cup my chin. Tilting my head a little, he rubbed my cheek with his thumb and whispered, “Thank you for last night.”
