The smiles return to my friends’ faces. “That good?” Naomi asks.
“Oh. My. God. You don’t even know.”
Anna bursts out laughing. “Well, one thing for sure is that you deserve some amazing sex.”
I can’t help myself from grinning. “I’m really confused,” I say honestly. “This isn’t something I wanted, and I can’t believe that it happened. But when he says he thinks there’s more between us than a one-night-stand, I believe him. So I’m going to give it a chance. What I need from you guys is for you to give him a chance too, but also tell me what you really think of him, once you get to know him a little better.”
They all look back and forth between each other before Elizabeth is the one to voice their consent. “We can do that.”
“But if he hurts you, I reserve the right to kick him in the balls,” Anna says.
I laugh, raising my glass to her. “I wouldn’t want anything less.”
The waiter appears and serves everyone their food, including the omelette that Anna ordered for me. Soon after, Will reappears. “Sorry,” Anna says to him. “We would have ordered you something if we knew you were coming.”
He waves a hand. “It was last minute. I can grab something on the plane. Speaking of which …” He reaches under the table and squeezes my knee, and my stomach flips at the casual way he touches me. “I already asked Sandy. I’ve offered to take her home on my private plane. You’re more than welcome to join us. It will likely be more comfortable.”
Naomi looks at me and raises an eyebrow like she’s chastising me for leaving out the fact that he’s rich. I can only shrug because I’ve barely processed that myself. “Hell yeah,” she says. “I’ve always wanted to see what one of those private planes is actually like.” The other two say yes as well.
“So, Will,” Anna says. “What do you do that lets you afford private jets?”
“I recently took over the family business.”
“Which is what?” she presses.
He smiles. “Hotels. My family and I own the Emerald hotel chain, and several others.”
The Emerald is where we met last night, and where I woke up this morning. No wonder we got into the VIP booth with such ease and he had such an amazing room. The Emerald hotel chain is international and they’re known for having some of the most exclusive, luxurious properties in the world. Holy shit. The looks on my friends’ faces are probably the same as mine. While black out drunk, I married one of the richest men in the world. I can’t even begin to know how to process that.
“What brought you to Vegas?” Elizabeth asks.
“Honestly,” Will says, “I was just blowing off a little steam. I hadn’t had the best week, and wanted to relax. Then I saw Sandy, and the rest is history.” The way he’s looking at me makes my tummy flip over again.
As promised, he lets us grill him over the meal. He has a younger sister, his mother died a few years ago, he doesn’t come to Vegas very often, but this weekend it was convenient because he had been in California the week before. His favorite color is dark green, and I blush as I realize the color of my dress is his favorite. The fact that it looks amazing but is also his favorite is somehow a sweet coincidence.
I didn’t look at the dress when I put it on, I didn’t look at the label, and I was so overwhelmed that I didn’t even really think about the fact that he had a dress delivered for me in the middle of the night or that he let me choose out a diamond—any diamond—without question. “Where did you get the dress?” I ask.
“Marchesa,” he says. “Their store here is near the jewelry store and it gave me the idea.”
Which means the dress I’m wearing is easily over a thousand dollars. At least. Wow. I sit back in my chair. “This is insane.”
Will grins. “Why?”
“Because I’m an accountant. I do people’s taxes and I don’t get paid very much for it. I’m not used to wearing dresses that cost a month’s salary.”
He doesn’t anything, just smirks. I know what that little smile is saying too, that as long as I’m with him, I might as well get used to it.
Everyone finishes their meals, and Will calls a car for all of us, swinging by our (much less expensive) hotel to check out and gather our things. And I finally get to put on a pair of underwear and not worry about the fact that I might ruin the most expensive piece of clothing I’ve ever owned because Will unexpectedly arouses me, or I get too carried away remembering last night and how he made me feel.
