"Yes, sir" he replied, turning.

"I am assigning you Level Six tomorrow."

Grant nodded, wincing internally. There was no patrol he hated more than walking around Level Six. He wasn't the most social warrior and everyone, it seemed, wanted to talk to him. He had no idea what to do or what to say, especially to the wolves. All conversations with them seemed to circle back to his own pack.

"Yes, sir," he said.

Adriel nodded and then turned his attention back to Eva who was discussing some of the concerns that Stefan had brought to her concerning the Founding Families protest.

Grant shut the door behind him and headed toward the transport tunnel. He got to the edge and sighed. He really needed to get with Nigel and Neil to get one of those stones they'd given Meryn. Being in a city that required you to fly when you were a wolf just flat out sucked.

"Thought you'd be escaping soon," Micah teased.

He looked over at his warrior brother in relief. Etain and Micah were walking up behind him.

"Aren't you guys going to stick around to get orders?"

Micah shrugged. "I'm sure they'll let us know somehow. They're going to be busy for a while. There's a lot to discuss. We lowly warriors can go back to the Unit Level and get some grub."

Grant chuckled. It seemed as though after mating, Adriel and Declan had suddenly been pulled into the city's leadership circle. Adriel had been there almost from the beginning even if he refused to see it. Now Declan, with his political ties and multitasking mate, was getting pulled away from warrior duties more and more.

Before any of them knew it, Declan would probably get assigned as an elder somewhere. Micah and Etain floated them back up to the Unit Level and they headed toward the warrior estate.

"That's two for two," Etain said lowly.

Grant ground his teeth together but didn't say anything.

Etain met his eyes. "I know we discussed this earlier. I was apprehensive before, but now I'm downright terrified." Grant nodded.

"What? What am I missing?" Micah asked.

"Our mates are coming," Grant said

"You know that's not what I meant."

Etain stopped in the middle of the road, looking at Grant who shrugged.

"Seriously guys, unless you are going to break this down for me, I can go inside. No need to give each other secret glances or speak in code," Micah protested.

Etain shook his head. "You should be getting your dream soon."

"You mean about the mates?"

Etain nodded.

"That's great news. I would love to have a mate."

They both eyed him, sarcastic looks on their faces.

"What? Just because I love women doesn't mean I can't settle down with the right one." Micah laughed until he saw their somber expressions.

"What?" he asked. "What else is coming?"

There was a terror in Etain's eyes that Grant could relate to. He looked at Micah. "Death," he replied.

"Death is coming," Etain echoed.
