I was sure Carla had been sabotaging my events somehow. It had to have been her. She had my entire planned week, even a summary. She was becoming a menace and all because I accidentally cut her hair, was indirectly responsible for her falling in a swimming pool, oh and knocked a tray of food on her lap. Mm, there was also the fact that the hat she’d lost in that pool was her late grandmother’s which I found out later on or I definitely would have wrestled with Harry on that one. Oh, and also her phone ended up at the bottom of the same pool that day, so she could not confirm or double check the reservations she made for me, which you had to do the night before or lose venues and deposits.

Her new replacement phone only arrived yesterday. If she was a normal person and didn’t wait for the latest model to come, she would’ve had a new phone right away. But no, Carla got the new model of the phone long before everyone else because she basically knew everyone in the world. And for some reason, everyone seemed to adore her, but only because they didn’t know just how sneaky and cunning she could be.

Oh yes, I knew how evil she was. I knew it was her who had one hundred pizzas delivered to our poker night at that posh hotel. I had to pretend I’d ordered them but that just ended up with me badly offending their five star chef. Plus, I got stuck with the bill for one hundred pizzas.

Things just keep getting worse with everyone. And they still hadn’t forgiven me for Celeste, the bus tour, and getting us kicked out of the hotel where we had the poker night. Drew wouldn’t believe me when I tried to tell him it wasn’t me who had ordered those pizzas. Plus, how was I supposed to know they had a touchy chef.

Now I had to somehow make amends for accidentally leaving Carla almost butt naked after our beach volleyball game. I really didn’t mean to close the car door on her dress and start to back up so I could collect the beach gear. It was an accident, and why couldn’t she have left her bikini on like a normal person after a day at the beach instead of having to shower and change? Getting sand trailing after you everywhere you go after a day at the beach is part of the fun. But no, sand was not allowed to follow Princess Carla around; she had to leave it at the beach.

She had a rocking body though and had absolutely nothing to be ashamed about. I had no idea Carla was even standing near me when I closed the door. She’s lucky it was just her dress that was ripped off her, and how don’t you feel your dress had been a bit hiked up? But no, I was once again the bringer of a bad closing to a good day. Now I have a lot of making up to do.

Tonight, we have a luau festival planned. There are going to be coconut passing competitions, hula dancing competitions, and a complete spread, catering for all tastes. Garry had assured me that the night was going to be unforgettable. I just hoped little miss saboteur wouldn’t strike tonight as it was going to be a mixed gathering. I thought my mistake was not trying not to do more events as mixed events, like today’s volleyball that had been such a good day. Well, up until the incident with Carla’s dress that is.

I checked my Hawaiian shirt, blue shorts, and sneakers. I looked good and I had my normal cologne tonight. I wondered if Carla managed to find my real gift basket but I was really not sure this is the time to ask her. Oh well, here goes! Time to get everything moving along. Hayley wanted Carla to help me coordinate everything but she’d flatly refused. In fact, I don’t think she’s even going to be at the luau tonight. So, this was all me and I was going to make sure there were no incidents, or well, ones I could control anyway.

It was the most perfect night! Warm with not a cloud in sight and the sky putting on a sparkling display of stars stretching out as far as the eye could see. The ocean murmured softly in the distance as it gently stroked the shore line. The salty tang of the sea air mingled with the smoky fires of the spit roasting pits. I could hear soft laughter in the distance and the sound of bongo drums sounding out a beat.

The evening was off to a good start. I smiled as I rounded the corner and came upon the area that had been set out for the night’s luau. There were long lanterns lining the path and the wedding guests had all gotten into the spirit of the evening by dressing the part. The hotel’s gift shop must’ve made a killing with Hawaiian gear sales today.
