“Not really,” I whisper. “Do you?’

“I cannot be opposed to anything that would bring you pleasure.”

I close my eyes. “My world is officially rocked.”

He laughs. “Did you have a good time, earlier?”

“Hmm mm,” I tell him. “I loved the play, and Aidan is really great.”

“I think he may have fallen in love with you. He’s usually more reserved with women.”

I chuckle. “That’s ridiculous.”

He laughs too. “It is. I’d have to challenge him to a duel or something.”

“You wouldn’t,” I say, giggling.

“I’d have to.” He pauses. “I want to see you.”

My heart quickens. “Now?”

“I know. It’s late, and you should be asleep. But I’m standing outside your building looking up at your window, wondering what the fuck is wrong with me.”

“You’re here?” I throw off the covers and run to the window. There’s his silver jaguar, parked close to the building entrance on the tree-lined street. The windows are up, so I can’t see inside the car except for a small glow that might be the screen of his phone, but as I watch, the door opens and he climbs out.

My breath catches in my throat. Seeing him always has that effect on me. He’s wearing the shirt from earlier, with the same black pants, but he’s discarded the blazer. He looks up at my window, almost as if he can see me from where he’s standing. “Can I come up?” he asks.

“Yes.”

He cuts the connection, and I watch him lower his phone to his pocket and walk toward the entrance of the building. Hurrying to the living room to buzz him in, I start to wish there was enough time to change into something sexier.

When I open the door, he’s already bounding up the last step. He takes the few steps towards me and without a word, gathers me in his arms and presses his lips to mine.

He smells so good, and he feels so warm, and hard and male. His lips tease mine, parting them, even as he moves inside the apartment with me in his arms and closes the door behind him.

I melt into him, wanting nothing more than to be consumed by him. His tongue caresses mine, his hands at my back holding me close to him, so I can feel his erection pressing against my thigh.

He releases my lips and leans back against the door, his hands still holding me to his body as he smiles down at me.

“Thanks for letting me up,” he says, “I’d have felt very much like a fool if I’d had to drive back home.”

“I doubt you’ve ever felt like a fool,” I reply, breathing heavily.

“No,” he agrees “But around you it’s hard to know how I feel.”

I search his face, desperately wanting proof that his words point to feelings for me on his part that could perhaps equal mine. “I’m glad I have such an effect on you.”

“I kept thinking about San Francisco. Falling asleep with you in my arms.” He pulls in a deep breath, making his chest expand. “What were you thinking earlier? When you were thinking about me.”

“I was won

dering what you were doing.”

“Only that?” He lowers his head and nuzzles my neck. “You weren’t thinking about my lips in your skin, like this?”

A small moan escapes me as his lips draw a line along my chin up to my lips. “Were you thinking about me kissing you, my fingers touching you,” I feel his hand slide up my thigh, stopping at the juncture of my legs. I can already feel the warmth pooling between my thighs as my body prepares to surrender to him.

“Is that what you were thinking?”
