I turned to Elijah and placed my arm over his chest, and he ran his fingers through my hair.
Elijah looked at me deeply “I’m definitely going to see my mother tomorrow, I need to get it sorted, it has been too long and is niggling at me,” he said as he held me closer to him.
“Do you want me to come with you this time?” I asked as I ran my fingers over his chest.
“No, I would love you to come, but it’s something I need to do on my own first, It has been years that we have not communicated, and she will even look at me as a stranger, as she will be a stranger to me,” he replied.
I pulled him closer toward me and held him tight, as I rested my head on his shoulder and gazed up at him.
“It’s ok, I fully un
derstand,” I said as Elijah gazed at the ceiling.
Chapter Twenty-Nine
Elijah
I opened my eyes and could see Bo had firmly rested himself against my legs again. I turned my head on the crisp white cotton pillow case and could see Kendall as she slowly opened one of her eyes and looked in my direction as she started to stretch her arms.
“Good morning,” I said as I smiled at her.
“Bah, too early for such pleasantries,” she replied as she rolled over and thrust her ass toward me.
Kendall threw her legs from out of bed and shuffled to the bathroom for a pee, she came back into the room wrapped in a robe, and she had tied her hair into a bun.
“Come on Bo, time for you to go out,” she said as she patted her leg and headed down the stairs.
Bo looked at me and decided he should follow, yet his eyes said he would much rather stay on the bed.
“You better go, she will be mad,” I said to Bo.
He raised his body and plopped himself onto the floor before getting up to find Kendall.
“Here Bo,” I could hear her shout from the kitchen door.
I wrapped myself in a robe and headed downstairs to the kitchen and turned on the coffee machine. The whir of the blades as it ground the beans filled the silence of a quiet Sunday morning.
“So, today is the big day?” Kendall asked as she stood and looked in the refrigerator.
“It is. I’m kind of nervous, not just the animosity between us, but she’s a stranger to me, if it had not been for the pictures, Peter could have introduced me to anyone,” I said as I placed the cups on the saucers.
“Juice,” Kendall said
“Eh?” I replied as I filled the cups with coffee and place cream and sugar on the tray.
“Do you want juice?” she asked as she shook a carton for me to see.
“Yes, please. We need to make sure we have our vitamins in the morning,” I replied cheekily.
She smiled, thankfully playing along a little. “So, what time are you going to your mother’s?” Kendall asked as she placed the glasses of juice on the table.
“About 11 a.m. I should be there just after lunch then,” I replied.
“Pancakes or toast? Pick one. I’m not doing both,” Kendall said with a giggle.
“Toast is fine. It’s too early to mess around cooking. Just relax and spend some quality time with me,” I replied.
“Mr. Overconfident here. Any time is quality time,” Kendall replied as she sat on my lap and threw her arms around my shoulders.
