“You hear that?” Christian says what I’m thinking. Then we both see it. A helicopter coming right toward us. I stand, trying to get a better look because I’m pretty sure it’s about to land on the roof. There is a helipad off to the side but in the year I’ve lived here I’ve never seen someone use it. My eyes almost pop out of my head when I see the name Stanton Security on the tail of the helicopter.

Christian reaches out, grabbing my arm to pull me back some. The air coming off the helicopter has my hat flying off my head. I don’t bother to chase it down. In fact, I can’t move because I still can’t believe that Aaron is landing a helicopter on my rooftop. My mom is so going to hear about this.

Aaron’s eyes lock with mine as he lands. They stay trained on me as he swings the door open, easily jumping from the helicopter. “Hands off,” he barks out.

“What?” I snip back, having no idea what he’s talking about or why he’s already barking orders. He’s the one who’s landing on my roof like an arrogant bastard. I’m the one who gets to be all pissy. I feel Christian’s hand drop from my arm. I’d forgotten that he even grabbed me. Christian takes a few steps away. I roll my eyes.

A thrill runs through me when I think about what Aaron would do if some other man told him to stop touching me. I know he wouldn’t drop his hand away or step back. If he did it would likely be to punch the guy. That doesn’t sound like a rule follower though. No, watching him land on my roof as if he owns the place makes me think Aaron is a rule follower but he makes up those rules. Maybe I’ve been misreading him.

That is fine by me. I’d be more than happy to break them for him.

My eyes lock on Christian Plancon. I don’t need an introduction to know who the fuck he is. My only concern is that he has his hands on my woman. Christian Plancon is five foot eleven inches and slides in under two hundred pounds. He has wavy blond hair with blue eyes. He really plays the all-American boy well. Boy being the operative word. He went to college out on the West Coast where he spent more time on a surfboard than he did in classes. He skated by, barely graduating. Not that he needed a degree. His father had plans for him but I’m sure a man like Jonathan Plancon demanded his son have a degree before he took him into his accounting company. He owns one of the best in the city. Too bad Christian doesn’t have the drive his father has. That not only shows from his college days but from the fact he so easily lets my girl’s arm go. He doesn’t deserve to touch her.

He might run in the same circles as Savannah, but he isn’t worthy of her. No, I wasn’t born into her world. My girl grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth. She plays the role when she needs to but it isn’t who she is. The Castile family is a whole new breed. They are money but you’d never know that if it wasn’t for the Louboutins on her feet to the Gucci sunglasses perched on the tip of her button nose.

I know everything about everyone who’s lived in her building. Hell, I know everyone who decides to breathe the same air as her. I’ve spent my life protecting people. I did it for my country, then for the rich and famous, and now I’m doing it for her. Sometimes I think I’ve spent my life training to protect her. Something so perfect and flawless should be guarded.

“Go.” I issue the order. Christian scurries away. Savannah folds her arms over her chest, making her tits almost spill out of her bikini top. “Mr. and Mrs. Thompson.” I nod toward them. They both wave but my eyes stay trained on my woman. And fuck me if she isn’t more woman than anything standing there with her eyes lit up with heat. We both know it’s not only her being pissed at me. It’s that fire that’s been burning between us. I am over it. Not her. I’ll never be over her, but I am over the game and I’m pretty sure she is too. She doesn’t know how to give in, though. I do. I know she’s expecting me to storm over there, throw her over my shoulder and take off with her. She’s going to be pleasantly surprised by my next move. Believe me, I want to act like a caveman but I have a much grander plan in mind for today. One that I know she’ll never see coming.
