“Really?”

“Yeah… Maybe I’ll… I don’t know. Dance with someone besides you.” She smiles shyly. Georgia has been to the club with me on quite a few occasions. She’s never missed anyone’s birthday celebrations, but she tends to dress more formal, so as not to get noticed. Even though she’s so gorgeous she could probably wear a garbage bag and get noticed.

“I bet we can find you the perfect dress in my closet.” I lean across the middle of my jeep and give my sister a hug. “I love you, Georgia, and I’m so proud of you.”

“I love you, too.”

Alec

I’m sitting in a booth in Club Hectic, surrounded by several of my friends, as well as some of the guys I work with who have tonight off. I’m pretty sure between Lexi and Chase, everyone I know has been invited to celebrate my birthday. I’m watching Lexi and Georgia shake their asses on the dance floor to an old-school remix. Right now “Hypnotized” by Plies is pumping through the speakers, and my eyes are stuck on Lexi’s sexy-as-fuck body. When she and Georgia came out of their rooms dressed in tiny—way too fucking tiny—black dresses and fuck-me heels, I about lost my shit. For one, Georgia doesn’t dress like that. In all the years I’ve known her, I’ve never seen her in anything that shows off every damn curve she has.

When I asked what the hell was going on, Georgia smiled and said, “We’re finding our perfect path.” I have no clue what she meant by that, and I didn’t ask because I was too focused on Lexi, and how gorgeous she looked. She tends to be a ripped jean shorts and tank kind of girl, so when she dresses up, it makes it all the more special.

“Holy fuck, man.” Chase comes over and sits next to me. He grabs a shot off the tray and downs it. “When the hell did she get so hot?” He nods toward Lexi and Georgia, who are now grinding up against each other to “Me & U” by Cassie, completely oblivious to the fact every fucking perv is staring at them. If this is how they plan to find their perfect path, I’m about to be getting into a lot of fights.

“Who’s she?”

“Obviously Georgia. I wouldn’t dare talk about your precious non-girlfriend. But she’s definitely looking good as well.”

“Aren’t you a married man?” I might not have the same type of feelings for Georgia as I have for Lexi, but I’m just as close to her as I am with her sister. I’ve known her almost as long as I’ve known Lexi, and she’s just as much of a sister to me as my own is. I’ll be damned if any guy is going to fuck with her—friend or not.

“Not for long.” Chase downs another shot and slams it down.

“Damn, man, I’m sorry.”

“It’s all good.” He shrugs. “I found out she’s been fucking around with another guy. I think it’s time I do a little fucking myself.”

“That’s rough, bro.” I take a shot then look Chase dead in the eyes, so he knows what I’m about to say is serious. “I don’t blame you for wanting to get laid, but it won’t be with Georgia.”

“Are you seriously cockblocking me?” Chase asks incredulously.

“Call it whatever you want. There are hundreds of women in this club. Go fuck ’em all if you want, but Georgia is off-limits, especially since you’re still married.”

Chase opens his mouth to argue, but whatever he sees in my face must tell him I’m not playing, because he just nods. “All right, but can I at least dance with her?” He points to the women who are now surrounded by a bunch of men.

“Yeah, let’s go.” We take one more shot before we head over to Georgia and Lexi, not so subtly pushing through the guys. Chase makes eye contact with Georgia, his hands going to her hips. At first, she looks like she’s about to hyperventilate just from his simple touch alone, but when he leans down and whispers something to her, she smiles and nods, then wraps her hands around his neck.

When I know Georgia is okay, I pull Lexi’s back into my front. She spins around, her hand coming up about to slap me, but when she sees it’s me, her hand lowers and a beautiful smile appears.

“I thought you were one of those guys.” She nods toward the guys who’re moving on to other women now that they see Georgia and Lexi aren’t available.

“Good to know you would’ve handled yourself.” I take her hand in mine and bring it up to my lips. Lexi’s eyes go wide. I should really stop the flirting. I know my boldness is thanks to the tequila, and tomorrow morning when I’m no longer buzzed, I’ll regret what I’ve done. Not because I don’t want Lexi, but because I’ve worked hard to keep that thin line neatly drawn and in place.
