“Shit, you weren’t lying. Hit me with the bad news.” I hate like hell that I even have to tell her anything about River, but she needs to know.

“River is trying to countersue me. It shouldn’t touch you or Sailor, but if push comes to shove, you may need to have a sit-down meeting with my attorney.” Luna doesn’t appear upset. If anything, the small smile tells me so much more. Her hand goes to my hair, massaging my scalp, relaxing me when I should be doing it to her instead.

“I’m not worried about that. You let me know where I need to be, and I’ll be there. We’re a team. We’re in this together. The Mateo, Luna, and Sailor Show.” This is my time to butt in, so I do.

“About that. I’d really love it if it were The Cruz Family.” I pull out the ring that I placed in my pocket earlier. The minute she opened the door, Sailor on her hip, welcoming me into her home without judging me, I knew. That very next day, I went into a local jewelry shop and custom ordered her ring, completely different from any normal engagement ring. Light blue in color, cushion cut, with diamonds surrounding it.

“We’re already a family.” I’m not sure what I ever did to deserve her, meeting one random night in California. But mierda, am I so fucking happy she saw something in me.

“I know that, mi diosa. I’d love for the both of you to have my last name. Call me an alpha or a Neanderthal, but it’s something I need deep in my soul.” I pick up her left hand, slip the ring on her finger, bring it to my mouth and kiss it.

“Oh God, Mateo. You don’t even have to ask. I’ll be forever yours, no matter what. The good and the bad, the past and the present, I promise you.” Tears are streaming down her cheeks. This woman, fuck, she undoes me.

“I haven’t even asked, didn’t even get to tell you how I felt, and here you are, giving me everything. I knew the minute I laid eyes on you in that smokey bar, blues music playing in the background, that white dress you were wearing, though I’m not even sure you could call it that with the way it showed off your skin, hugging your curves in all the right fucking places. I was sunk from the very beginning, and you gave me the greatest gift of all later that night. I kicked myself in the ass for not knowing you better before I left, and not finding you until fate finally brought us back together. I have so many more things to say, but I think you get where I’m coming from. I loved you then, and I love you now. Marry me, Luna. That’s all I need in life. You by my side, along with Sailor and another one or two along the way.” Her glass of wine is already set down on the table along with my beer. She’s launching herself into my lap even more than she already was, and I’m waiting on pins and needles.

“I love you, Mateo Cruz. You’re my everything, and of course I’ll marry you.” She attacks my lips, needing them as much as I do hers, lost in the moment of bliss. One of my hands cups the back of her neck, the other gripping her naked thigh, scooting her closer to me until her cunt meets my dick. The only thing keeping me from taking her right here out in the open is that our boy is waking up. He’s babbling right now, but if someone doesn’t get him out of his crib, he’ll be having a full-blown conniption fit.

“Your son has impeccable timing,” she murmurs against my lips.

“Oh, he’s mine now? Just yesterday, he was yours when he learned how to blow kisses.” I pull away trying not to laugh at her.

“Fine, he’s our son, but seriously, you know him blowing kisses was all me. You’ve been teaching him the hang loose sign more than anything.” Sailor and I definitely have been working on that and counting sets. He points every time I count, his face lighting up each time.

“He’ll get it soon too. He’s already trying. You want to get Sailor, or you want me to?” I ask. It was a slow day at the Wet Spot today, so we packed it in early while Luna was working through her clients and their hair.

“I’ll get him, then come back out?” she asks, already leaving my lap.

“That’ll work. Hate like hell I can’t make you mine with only your ring on right now, but I’ll be making up for it later tonight.”

“You better get it all in tonight, what with you opening up our house to my parents. We’ll have Sailor in our room, and that definitely means no sex,” she pouts.
