I walk up to our home. Mateo and Sailor are sitting on the front porch. Sailor has a sippy cup in his hand, his cute little smile on his face that’s more gums than teeth when he sees me. Mateo has a bottle of beer and a glass of wine beside him.

“A girl could get used to this,” I tease before picking up Sailor, hugging him, kissing him all over, and plopping myself in Mateo’s lap.

“It’s a good thing you will, then. Now give me your lips,” he demands. I give him what he wants, our lips meeting, tongues twirling, causing me to moan.

“Hold that thought. Little man is hungry, and dinner should just be about done,” Mateo says, leaving me breathless.

“Yep, I’ll never ever want anything to change.”

“Maybe one thing?” he questions, looking at Sailor in my arms but also my stomach. Yep, we aren’t doing anything to prevent a baby from happening, and I pray daily that things work in our favor.

“Definitely one more thing. What did you boys get up to today?” I ask, hopping off Mateo’s lap and grabbing my wine glass to walk inside.

“Looked at the waves, planned my next workout for tomorrow. You want to watch me? The Wet Spot is sponsoring a surf competition in a couple of weeks, and I’ve entered just for a bit of fun.” I can hear the excitement in his voice.

“Of course, as long as you promise me coffee if we’re getting up at sunrise.” He smacks my ass when I walk in front of him.

“As if I don’t do that already.” We make our way into the house. It smells of amazing spices.

“Oh God, dinner smells amazing,” I groan.

“Save that for later. Go relax for a few minutes while I put the finishing touches on it.” He shoos me out of the kitchen, a wide smile on my face, and not for the first time am I so unbelievably happy that the three of us are right where we’re meant to be.

Not for the first time am I finding myself calling Slade again. I held my anger in as much as I could, mainly because I don’t want to fuck with Luna and make her hurt any more than she already has been. Not to mention, after this call, it’s about time I talked to Fox too. If there’s any blowback from this, he deserves to know.

Once I get all the information about River, I do exactly what needs to be done. Today, I have Sailor with me. He’s hanging out in this crazy contraption that she kept at the salon when Luna needed to take him. It’s this big round pen-like thing, plastic in material, and it’s laden with toys. Of course, his favorite is with him. That damn dog has gone off more times than I can count. It caused Slade to laugh. We’re going to get our families together, and soon.

“Hey, bubs, you wanna simmer down with that toy?” I look over at him. He’s sitting on his diaper-clad butt, wearing a pair of board shorts and a Wet Spot T-shirt I had to add to the production line as soon as I was in Luna and Sailor’s life.

“Da-da-da.” His arms are moving, and he’s giving me that smile of his I love so much.

“I hear you, Sailor. I hear you.” I get out of my desk chair and walk over to where he is. The way he stands up, arms raised in the air, reaching for me, it gets me every time.

“Alright, let’s go talk to Uncle Fox, huh?” I say once he’s in my arms. He snuggles into my chest, much like his momma does. I’ve been soaking in each and every day, not taking anything for granted, even with having River in the back of my mind. The news I just got from Slade, though, it alleviated some of it. We walk back to the desk, sitting down, and I punch Fox’s number into my office line. One thing I’ve learned from having Sailor is the boy loves cell phones, and given the chance, he’ll slobber all over it.

“Yo, man, what’s up?” Fox answers after the second ring. I let everyone who meant anything to me know about Sailor and Luna the very next day, including my parents.

“Not much, hanging out in the office with Sailor until Luna gets off. She’s gonna meet us for lunch and some waves. How about you guys?” There’s nothing better than having our family time at the beach, eating dinner together, or winding down at night.

“Lucky little dude. We’re good. Shit’s booming every which way. Mel is definitely keeping me busy, that’s for sure.” We shoot the shit, talk about both of the surf shops we own, how Jax is doing with the way Sloane dodges him at every turn.
