“Yeah, Stella, you probably are.” I still have no idea how she does it and hasn’t become an alcoholic yet.
“Duh, now tell me, what did you not do to Nova this time?”
“I’m not rehashing that shit. Even Rock told me I was a dumb fuck. I need you to set something up for me. I want to take her to my house.” I’m ready for her shit now. It’s coming.
“Gage Bennett, you mean to tell me you haven’t taken her there yet? Have you even taken her out? Anything of the sort?” I hang my head. She’s not wrong. This is why I told her I fucked up.
“Nope, that’s why I need your help. I need you to make sure my place is somewhat clean. I haven’t been staying there. There’s been no point.”
“Well, there would have been for a couple of years now, you know, if you’d quit laying around with your dick in the dirt waiting on some fairy to come and knock some sense into your head and go after Nova.” I shake my head at her choice of words.
“Watch your mouth around the girls, woman. How’d Ghost feel if his girls walked around saying dick,” I admonish, trying to hold back my chuckle.
“Stop evading. Nova is freaking awesome, and I love that she’s putting you in your place. The answer to your question is, yes, I’ll help you. Do you even have sheets and towels for the place?”
“I’m not that much of a Neanderthal, Stella. I don’t have groceries, so if you can swing those out there, that would be fucking awesome. We’ll be taking my bike for what I have in mind.”
“Do I even want to know? But yeah, I’ll get shit done. Mom is taking the girls tomorrow, so I’ll do it then. You know what that means though. You’ll be her next phone call. She’ll be singing church bells, asking when the wedding is and if Nova is pregnant or not. Oh, this is going to be gold. I think I’ll stock up on the popcorn now.” This time, she really is letting loose a laugh. The girls get in on it even though they have no idea what we’re talking about.
“Nah, it’s probably best that you don’t know. I’ll owe you for this. Let me know when, and I’ll be there. I’ll take a ration of Mom’s hell, I probably deserve it.” I scratch the overgrowth of my beard. It’s probably time for me to shave, but I remember Nova making a comment about how she liked it last winter, and I may be an idiot when it comes to some things, but there are times I’m not a complete waste of sperm.
“Well, you’ll get it. Is the code to the house still the same?”
“Yep, thanks, sis,” I respond.
“Love you, big brother.”
“Love you. Give the girls hugs from me.” We hang up shortly after. I get back to work. This bike will be the death of all of us, mainly me now that Ice and Ranger got the customer to quit bitching and stick with the same concept. Fucker must have changed his mind three different times, which is why I’m now behind. Otherwise, I’d be going after Nova, that is if she weren’t at Mack’s place.
I fucking love that Nova has no problem putting me in my place. It also makes my dick hard and makes me want to shut her mouth up with my cock. The thought of her on her knees, swallowing my length, eye makeup running down her face as she struggles to take me to the back of her throat. Yeah, this thought has got to get out of my head before I pop a boner in the middle of Valor Customs.
“Damn it,” I grumble, throwing my phone on the worktable, grabbing the shit I need to weld this fender on the back end of the bike frame, and clearing any other thoughts that don’t relate to my work.

Nova
I so needed a girls’ night more than anything. Gage went silent on me again. With his work schedule, I should be used to it, but that note gave me hope, only those hopes are once again dead in the sand. If only I could tell my stupid heart the same thing. Though it’s now the dead of night and I’m home from Mack’s, sleep isn’t finding me. Of course, when you work at a bar, your sleep schedule is jacked to shit anyways.
Our laughter I’m sure was heard all the way to the motel where Mack parks her cute retro white and mint green travel trailer. We ate our weight in the snacks I brought—cheese, crackers, dips, vegetables, and chips galore. We even opened a couple of wine coolers. I quit at two so I could drive back home. The fact that I still live at home with my daddy doesn’t mean I want him to come pick up his daughter, who’s two sheets to the wind.
