“Good.”
He tipped her face up and chuckled. “How can you blush when I was just in your ass?”
She ducked down.
Travis covered them with the small blanket she’d been using for her nap. He tipped her head up again and pressed his lips to hers.
He kissed her slowly, gently several times.
“Let’s rest for a bit, and then we’ll get something to eat.”
She grinned. “Chinese?” she asked hopefully.
He kissed the tip of her nose. “Anything you want.”
Chapter Fourteen
Early the next morning, Travis leaned over the bed to kiss her one more time.
“Do you plan on going anywhere today?”
She thought about it for a moment and couldn’t think of anything. “No. I don’t think so.”
“I’d rather you stay in, but if you want to go to Aleena’s, call Stanley. Don’t go down until he is in the lobby. I’ll also have someone else with him as an extra precaution. I just want to keep you safe.”
“Okay.”
He slapped her ass and laughed when she screamed.
She looked up at him, narrowed her eyes, and then tried to throw a pillow at him. “That was so mean.”
“I’ll kiss it and make it better when I get home.”
She listened as his footsteps receded and then stretched. She flinched at the soreness, but it wasn’t bad, and it made her remember the night before. A smile crossed her face.
She was all his now, and the intimacy they shared brought them closer together.
Nia rolled out of bed and jumped into the shower. Her hands slid down her body and over her sensitive skin.
She dressed in jeans and a t-shirt and then made the bed. Then she went into the office to find a book to read when she heard a thump and the swish as the elevator door opened. The little hairs on her neck stood up.
“Where the fuck is that cunt at?” a male voice whispered from the living room.
She sucked in a startled gasp that shook from the terror racing through her when she knew that her nightmare had come to life.
Oh, God, her brother had somehow gotten into the condo. She wasn’t going to take the time to think about it and made her way behind a panel Travis had shown her. He called it a safe room. There were three of these rooms in their home. One in the office, one in the family room, and the last one in the master suite.
She made sure the door was tightly closed and locked behind her and then flipped the light switch. She looked around the room at all the gadgets he had stored in each room. He’d pointed out several of them, but she didn’t know how to use any of them.
Nia went to the cabinet, pulled out one of the guns, and loaded it. She and Travis had never discussed guns before, and she wondered if he would be shocked, mad, or impressed when she showed him that she could shoot and do it well.
Her father had taught her years ago before his illness. They had spent many Saturdays at the gun range, practicing and trying to one-up each other.
She looked around for a phone but couldn’t find anything. “Think,” she said and tried to calm her racing heart and labored breathing. There must be a way to contact the outside.
Nia started flipping on everything. She gasped when she saw inside the apartment from different angles. She hadn’t known there were hidden cameras everywhere.
She found the guys in the master bedroom, pulling everything from the drawers and the closet. There was a tall skinny guy she’d never seen before. A short guy in a black t-shirt, or it had been white once, he just never washed it. Besides her brother, another man stood in the bedroom, Marcus. He had hung around with her brother since they were in high school. He’d been a pretty decent guy back then. At the moment, he stood back and watched the others fight and destroy things.
