“No, dear. I want to stay here and make something special for your dinner tonight.”
Eve’s eyes teared up. “That’s so nice. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, child. Now go. You can’t be late to your own wedding.”
The three laughed.
He got her settled into the car. They were quiet on the way to the courthouse, but Patrick never released her hand.
He got them into the courthouse and gave their name to the receptionist.
“This way. The judge is waiting for you in his chambers.”
“You ready?” Patrick asked her.
She nodded. “Yes.” Eve gasped when they stepped through the door. Her friends and their men, beside an older man she didn’t know, stood waiting for them.
She was engulfed in her friends’ arms, and they all spoke at once.
“I’m so happy you guys are here,” Eve told them, trying to hold back her tears.
“We would have never missed it,” Brylee said. “We brought a few things with us. Do you mind if we decorate your hair?”
She shook her head and stood still as the girls wove delicate white flowers in her hair.
“Perfect,” Lark
in declared as she stepped back. Larkin turned and grabbed something. “Here, we had a florist quickly make up a bouquet this morning for you.”
Eve’s eyes teared. “You guys. This is perfect. Thank you so much.”
Patrick held out his hand. “Come on, baby.”
She walked to his side and took his hand.
“Dearly beloved…” the judge started.
Within a few minutes, the ceremony was over, and they were married. All that had to be done was sign the papers to make it official.
She shook the judge’s hands and went to stand by her friends while the men talked.
“Let me see the ring,” Larkin said.
Eve held out her hand and showed them the band of white gold with diamonds wrapped around it. It fit her perfectly, and she wouldn’t have asked for anything else. Her hands were too small for a big ring. Patrick got a simple white gold band without the diamonds. She didn’t know how he’d done it all so quickly, but she wasn’t going to complain.
“It’s beautiful,” Brylee said.
“I love it,” Larkin gushed.
Patrick came to her and wrapped an arm around her waist.
Several pictures were taken of the couple and then the whole group.
He kissed her tenderly. “We’re going to go out for brunch to celebrate. Darian got us into a private room at the Forrester’s.
Eve grinned when the other two girls squealed.
“You’ll love it. They make the best food,” Larkin told her.
