“Pull into my driveway,” she suggested, seeing all the vehicles already parked on the road. “I’m going to put this stuff away.”
Duke had mentioned the guys were coming over while Jason took her and Jewel out shopping. She wasn’t sure why Duke didn’t come. She guessed he wanted to give her some space with her friend or something like that. They’d spent most of the day shopping. Her feet hurt. She was hungry, thirsty and she desperately had to pee.
“I’ll get the bags,” Jason rumbled. She guessed that he’d pulled the short straw having to come out with her today, but he hadn’t moaned about it once. Today had been pretty awesome, even if she was exhausted. She searched for her keys in her bag. It was a pain not being able to keep them under one of her flower pots anymore.
Her bladder grew more insistent. There they were. She unlocked the door and sped through. “Make yourself at home! Bathroom break!”
When she came out of the bathroom, Jewel was searching through her kitchen cabinets while Jason stood by awkwardly.
“You got any booze in this place?” Jewel asked.
“No, sorry, I don’t drink much.”
“Seriously? Not even vodka? I mean, that’s barely considered alcohol.”
“It isn’t?” she asked.
Jewel shrugged. “Sure. If you’re Russian.”
“You’re Russian?”
“Nope.” The other woman grinned then grasped hold of her arm. “Come on, let’s get you ready. Jason left your packages in your room.”
Sunny turned to him. “Thanks for coming today. Go over and grab a beer with the guys, you’ve earned it.”
He shook his head. “I’ll wait for you.”
“Well, thanks.” She followed Jewel into her bedroom. “He’s a really nice guy, huh?”
Jewel grinned. “Nice, sure.”
“You don’t think he’s nice?” She raised her eyebrows.
“Uh-huh, I think he’s really nice.”
“How come he doesn’t have a nickname like the others? I didn’t want to ask in case it was a sore point.”
Jewel started laughing. “Jason is his nickname.”
“That’s a weird nickname.” As they talked, she put her new clothes away and Jewel set out her new make-up. She couldn’t believe she’d spent so much money. But everything Jewel had suggested seemed perfect and she’d been unable to resist. She had to go see Ronny tomorrow. She wasn’t looking forward to it but he owed her that money.
“His real name is Pike.”
“Pike? Seriously?”
“Yep.”
Jewel drew out a denim skirt and this cute, pastel blue top that tied at the back with a bow and placed them on the bed. “I think you should wear these.”
She nodded and pulled them on. She’d learned early into their shopping trip that Jewel didn’t have any hang-ups about getting naked in front of her. Not that she should. The woman was built with curves in all the right places.
She dressed then sat while Jewel played with her make-up. “Just going to go light since you don’t need much. Your skin is beautiful.”
She blushed. Jewel wasn’t afraid to hand out praise, but she did it in such a way that Sunny knew she spoke the truth.
“Perfect,” Jewel proclaimed, stepping back to examine her. “You’ve got the lingerie ready?”
“Yep. Oh hell. What if I can’t do it?”
