“The picture on the left is the last known one taken of her before she went into the system at eight. The one coming up on the right is a computerized aged version of what she might look like now.” The vision that came on the screen next was a thing of beauty. The tension in the SUV went up as both men whistled. Creed looked back, and Law took his eyes off the road long enough to look as well.

“Well, kid, is it?” Creed asked. I felt the blood rush to my head as I brushed the hair back from her face. The image was close, but it did her no justice as gorgeous as it was. She’s stunning. “It’s her.”

“Her dad was military, died in action fifteen years ago, just a little bit before she went into the system. Her mother’s Korean.”

“Where’s her mom?”

“Dead not long after that, it’s a bit early yet, so I have to work on the details. So far this is all that’s here I’ll go looking as soon as we hang up. Get her back to the safe house, Lyon and the others are waiting. There’s a doctor on call in case she needs one, and there’s a room set up and waiting for her.”

“She won’t be able to get out of the house on her own, but I don’t have to tell you to keep an eye on her still right.”

‘The way the boy is attached to her, I don’t think there’s going to be any problem with that.” Creed was having a good ole time at my expense, but if he knew what was really going through my head, it might be worse.

It’s a given that my cock has been hard ever since I got near her, but it was my mind that had me confused. I wanted to get her back to that island, to my sister and brother, people I knew and trusted that would take care of her. My heart hurt for her in a way that it hasn’t for anyone ever in my life, not even Ash when we were kids, and that was pretty bad.

Mancini’s words played around in my head, but they didn’t give me enough to form a picture of just what the hell had happened to her between the age of eight and now. Whatever it was, it was bad of that much I am certain. I looked down at her now, and it was easy to make out her heritage even with her eyes closed.

The slight almond shape of her eyes, which were black on the screen and that olive mix of Asian and Caucasian genes with the backdrop of jet-black hair blended into one hell of a beautiful girl. I realized that I was still holding her hand when Mancini rung off as we drove through the night.

She’s so tiny, like Ashley and most of the women I’d met on the island. Tiny, gorgeous, and a fucking walking, breathing lethal weapon.

We reached the safe house where the others were waiting as if they already knew the score. It felt like we’d been gone for quite a while, but all in all, it had been a little over three hours since we landed. I’m not sure any of us expected things to go as quickly or as smoothly as they did. “Looks like that nose of yours really works, huh kid.” Lyon stood back from the door after letting us in.

I didn’t answer; I couldn’t. My system was still short-circuiting from having her so close. “Any reason we can’t head back to the island since we got what we came for?” He didn’t even try to look at her, which I found odd. Doesn’t the guy have any curiosity? The others were straining their necks, trying to see through me.

“With all that hair, that’s definitely a female.” Logan peered over my shoulder, and I caught myself holding her closer to my chest. At this rate, I’ll probably smother her to death. “Did you ask Mancini about that? Maybe he can send the pilot back tonight.” Law stretched as we moved away from the door.

“Did you just ask me if I asked? Dafuq, is you on? I didn’t ask him shit; I’m not his kid. When he called to say you guys were heading in with the target, I suggested we head back tonight, but the asshole said something about logging flight plans and not wanting to look suspicious. Like I give a fuck about his criminal enterprise.”

“Didn’t he say that you were the chosen head of said enterprise, your highness?” Everyone started laughing like we weren’t in the middle of an Op, and I noticed that there wasn’t even a hint of tension among these men, something I’m not accustomed to when on a job.
