Just as I zip the second one, Matt strolls back into my bedroom, with a towel wrapped around his waist. My mouth drops open as I watch a drop of water cascade down his chest.
“What’s wrong Dollface?” He says with a smirk and raises an eyebrow.
I snap my mouth shut and stand from the edge of the bed. “Nothing, just looking at your sexy body.” He stalks toward me and pulls me into a kiss.
“You are so adorable.” He says.
“Here are some clothes you can wear. They should be the right size.” I tell him as I grab the clothes off the top of my dresser that I had gotten out before I got dressed. It’s just some jeans and a-shirt, but they are clean.
“These better be your brother’s or I am gonna kill a motherfucker.” He growls out while clenching his fists.
“Uh hello. You popped my cherry. Remember? It was just yesterday. So of course, they are my brothers. Now, please hurry. My stomach is eating itself.” I say in retort, rolling my eyes.
He dressed quickly while I wait impatiently.
“Ok let’s go!” I say as he comes up the hallway to the front door.
“What’s the rush?” He asks.
“Oh, I don’t know. Someone worked up my appetite. I wonder how that could have happened.” I sass.
“All right Dollface.” He says laughing. “Let’s get some food in you.”
Chapter Eight
Matt
Once we reach the street level, we can hear the horns blasting on the fire truck that is barreling down Main Street. It’s probably an equipment test or a cat stuck up a tree. I put it out of my mind.
Entering the diner, I see at least three of my patients. Ah, the joys of small-town living. With a nod to Mr. Sanders, who is eating something on his no-no list, I lead Juliet to a quaint corner booth. She pulls the menu from the holder on the table and begins looking it over. I already know what I want.
Once she puts the menu back, Rita, the world’s nicest waitress comes over to take our orders. I think she’s about ninety, but I am not sure. “Alright what can I get you, folks?” Rita says, taking one of several pens she has tucked into her hair.
“I’ll have some coffee, three pancakes and an order of bacon,” Juliet says.
“Alright. For you Doc?”
“I have two pieces of wheat toast, two eggs over easy, and a side of sausage. Coffee as well.”
“Links, patties, or smoked?”
“Patties,” I say.
“Great, I will get this order in and bring your coffee right out.”
When she leaves, I reach across the table and grab her hands. They are so soft. She really is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.
“So, do you just work at the hospital or do have a practice too?” Juliet asks me.
“I have a small practice here in Kissing Junction. Only about fifty patients, but it keeps me busy.”
“That’s nice. Where is it?”
“It’s just down the street. I have a receptionist, Jo. She works every day but schedules my patients around my hospital schedule unless there is an emergency. I can then see patients in my office at the hospital. I’d be lost without her. I notice the flair of jealousy that sparks in her eyes, but I don’t say anything.
“That’s nice that the hospital does that.” Rita sets down two cups and fills them with the nectar of the gods.
“Your order will be right up,” Rita says before walking away.
