“More. You mean so much more to me. More than anyone else has, which I know is sappy as shit, but it’s true.”
The confession I’d been holding was making me feel raw. I was scared he’d think I was a child. Closing my eyes, I whispered, “I’m a virgin.”
I drew in tighter, more embarrassed than ever. When he said nothing, I closed my eyes. “Will you take me home now?”
“Lex. Look at me, please.”
I opened my eyes, and Drake’s eyes were on fire. “You mean to tell me you’ve never slept with anyone before?”
“No. Drake, you were my first kiss.”
His eyes grew wide, and he practically attacked my mouth. In the next second, he pulled away. “I’ll be all your firsts when it’s time. I’ll be yours, always.”
Drake’s voice interrupted my thoughts. “What are you thinking about?”
“The day I told you I was a virgin.”
He inhaled. “Best fucking day of my life. You are the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me.”
“You made me wait almost six months,” I groaned.
It was true. When Drake realized I had never done anything before, he’d gone out of his way to make sure each step we took was special and well thought out. I had felt cherished.
His warm hand lay on top of mine. “What you gave me was a gift. We needed to be sure.”
A lump formed in my throat. I loved him so much. Wherever we were headed, I hoped he planned on us being together. I needed him more than I needed the air I breathed.
“Can I take the blindfold off?” I wanted to look into his eyes.
“Five more minutes. I want this to be special for you.”
I let out a deep breath. Those words confirmed what I’d hoped for. Patience. Soon we’ll be together.
The truck came to a stop, and I asked, “Can I take it off now?”
“Not yet. I’ll come get you.”
Waiting for Drake to come get me only amped up the anticipation. He came around, opened my door, and lifted me from my seat. Only silence and the smell of the woods greeted us. From the lack of noise—other than the chirping of birds—it was obvious we were far from town. Of course, it only took about five minutes to leave town and be in the wilderness.
Gently, Drake set my feet on the ground. The heat of his body pressed against my back. I shivered when his warm breath tickled my neck. “You are my world, Lex.”
“And you’re mine.”
He pressed his lips against my shoulder, and I leaned to the side, exposing my neck to him. “I still want the life we dreamed of having together.”
“I want that, too. More than anything.”
I leaned back against him, needing more contact.
He trailed kisses up my neck. “Take off the blindfold.”
For a moment, I froze, so caught up in Drake’s touch. Then I slid it off my head, opened my eyes, and let them adjust to the light.
The image before me took my breath away. It was exactly like I had dreamed so many times with him. Where are we? My eyes shot around as I tried to place our location. I hadn’t remembered a cabin like this. But we’d talked about it so much. Is this his? Did he build this place… for us?
I turned in his arms and looked up at him “Is this…?”
“Yes. Down to every detail we discussed.”
