“We’re keeping the booth warm,” he argues, his gaze locked with mine, humor glinting in his eyes.

“C’mon,” I say, reluctantly climbing off his lap. “They’re only here for the weekend.”

Ryan grumbles but stands, wrapping his arms around my waist. We make our way onto the dance floor, the four of us finding our own little spot. The music is pumping, playing a mix of old-school and new tracks, and Lexi, Georgia, and I dance facing each other, creating a small circle, while Ryan stays behind me, his body grinding against mine. He barely even moves but still manages to look sexy as hell. Guys have it so damn easy…

We spend the next few hours drinking and dancing and having a good time. Every time Lexi gets more shots—how her tiny little behind is able to hold it all remains a mystery—Ryan downs my shot for me. When she returns with another tray of shots—this time Georgia bowing out—she calls us lightweights and swallows back Georgia’s while Ryan drinks mine and his.

Ryan and I are all over each other on the dance floor. It’s obvious by the way he’s acting, the alcohol has done what I was hoping it would do—loosened him up. Our bodies, completely in sync with one another, are swaying to the music, and with his face only a hairbreadth away from mine, he tells me how much he loves me and everything he wants to do to me once we get home. Ryan drunk is exactly how I pictured: sweet and sexy and so damn adorable.

At some point, a couple of guys find their way over, trying to hit on Lexi and Georgia. Even though Ryan’s paying full attention to me—grinding his body against mine, and peppering kisses along my jawline and neck—I can tell he’s making it a point to keep an eye on them as well, which only makes me love him that much more. He’s protective by nature, and when I’m with him, I feel safe. I also know any time he’s with our son, he’ll be safe.

I can’t see what happens since my back is to Georgia, but I imagine it must have something to do with the guy who’s been trying to chat her up getting handsy. Because one second Ryan is running his fingers through my hair and kissing the sensitive spot below my ear, and the next, he’s in the guy’s face. With his hand in mine, he’s stepped between Georgia and the guy.

“Hey! The lady said no,” Ryan says, towering over the guy and getting in his face. I peek around him and see the guy shooting daggers at Ryan, obviously pissed he just put a dent in his plans. He looks like he’s about to start shit, but once he realizes Ryan’s not only several inches taller, but probably has a good fifty pounds of muscle on him, he steps back, deciding it would be a fight he would undoubtedly lose.

Lexi has now moved over to Georgia and has her arms around her in a comforting way, glaring at the guy like she’s about to step around Ryan and take him out herself—and by the look in her eyes, I’m almost positive she could.

“I think I’m ready to go,” Georgia says nervously, once the guy walks away. Her hands are shaking, and she looks uncomfortable. Georgia has never been comfortable in situations that involve a huge group of people. She usually only goes along with it for Lexi, and even then, it’s rare she’ll actually join in.

Lexi nods, not even attempting to argue. While Lexi has a thick shell, blocking out anything bad in the world and rarely taking life serious, Georgia is softer, more sensitive, and that hard shell Lexi carries on her back shelters and protects them both.

When we arrive back at our house, Georgia and Lexi retreat to their rooms, and Ryan and I do the same. I peel off my dress and shuck off my heels, leaving me in only my undergarments. I’m about to head into the bathroom to rinse off, when Ryan’s arms encircle my waist from behind.

“Fuck, there’s only one thing hotter than you in that dress and heels.” His hand glides down my stomach, landing on my cotton-covered mound. “You in nothing but a sexy bra and this tiny thong.” He slips his fingers under the material and pushes through my folds. I part my legs to accommodate him, and he sinks his finger into me, finding my clit.

“I feel like I’ve been hard since you stepped out of the room in that dress.” He dusts my hair to the side, pushes the bra strap down, then places a soft, lingering kiss to my bare shoulder. He cups my breast with his hand, massaging it before he zeros in on my nipple, pinching and tweaking it. Bolts of electricity shoot straight to my core, which is already on fire from him rubbing delicious circles on my tiny, sensitive nub. I’m already close to coming, and he must sense that, because he pulls his hand out.
