“Want to watch a movie?” I offer. Hell, I’ll do anything she wants right now.
Mila nods. “One movie to relax, and then I have to work on my assignments.”
I hold a finger up. “Give me a second.” Rushing out of my room, I go to Mila’s. I grab her laptop and school bag and jog back to her. I place the laptop on the bedside table and the bag on the floor, then point to the bed. “Get comfortable. What do you want to watch?” I walk to the entertainment system across from my bed, and grabbing the remote, I turn on the TV. “I’ve got everything from action to that sappy shit women like to watch.”
“I want sappy shit,” Mila says, and hearing her chuckle brings a smile to my face.
“As long as I get to complain about men not really doing all that shit in real life.”
“Deal.” I glance back to where Mila is sitting with her legs crossed on my bed. Her black hair shimmers, and there’s color in her cheeks. When I stare for too long, Mila asks, “Why are you staring?”
I shrug and pay attention to the TV as I go to the romance section. “Cause you’re so beautiful. Sometimes it catches me by surprise. Which one do you want to watch?” I walk to the bed, and sitting down on the mattress, I lean back against the headboard with my legs stretched out in front of me.
When Mila doesn’t answer, I glance at her and seeing her staring at me, I tease, “Are you staring at me ’cause I’m pretty too?”
Mila scrunches her nose and shrugs. “Nah, it’s because you’re not half as bad as I thought, and sometimes it catches me by surprise.”
I chuckle as I gesture at the TV. “Which movie do you want to torture me with?”
Mila grabs the remote from me and scrolls twice through the whole damn list before settling on ‘The Vow’.
She lies back against the headboard and places the remote between us. “I’m warning you, no bad-mouthing Channing Tatum, or I’ll have to throat punch you.”
Raising an eyebrow at her, I pretend to be offended. “Seriously? What do you see in that guy?”
Mila gives me a disgruntled look, and I have to say I missed seeing that expression on her face. “For one, he gives a much better strip dance than you.”
Taking hold of her arm, I pull her closer to me while I joke, “Just wait. One day I’ll blow your mind with my sexy moves.”
Mila lets out a burst of laughter and cuddles into my side. When she rests her cheek on my chest, I bring my hand to her hair and play with the strands while watching the start of the movie.
Halfway through, Mila dozes off, and I make sure she’s fast asleep before digging her phone out of my pocket. I send Justin’s number to my own phone before I block his number and delete the voice clip. I listen to the others to make sure there’s nothing else that can upset Mila before I switch off her phone. I drop hers on the bedside table then take hold of my phone.
Pressing dial on the fucker’s number, I wait for him to answer. It goes to voicemail, and I grind the words out, “Don’t fucking phone her. Don’t even think of her. I’m going to make sure you fucking pay.”
Cutting the call, I take a deep breath before I bring up the number for Preston. He’s Mr. Chargill’s PA and just the person I need right now.
“Preston Culpepper speaking,” he answers.
“It’s Jase. I need a favor, please.”
“Oh… sure,” I hear something in the background, and then he asks, “What can I help with?”
“I need you to erase someone.”
“Everything?” he asks, not even questioning why I’m asking him to do this.
“His name is Justin Green. He was a student at Trinity until recently. I want everything erased. Social security, bank accounts, every single thing you can find on him.” Knowing how thorough Preston is, I quickly add, “Just not the police records. That’s all I want to remain, so he’s only known for what he did.”
There’s a moment's silence, then Preston asks, “Is he the one that attacked Mila West?”
“Yes.”
“Consider it done, Jase.”
“Thanks, Preston. Keep this between us.”
“My lips are sealed.”
Cutting the call, I drop my phone next to Mila’s. I let my eyes drift over her face, and a smile tugs at the corner of my mouth.
One way or another, I’m going to destroy Justin Green.Chapter 17MILAI can’t believe I dozed off again. Staring at Jase’s sleeping face, I keep still, not wanting to wake him.
My thoughts return to earlier when he got angry. I’ve never seen him like that, and I find it weird, I wasn’t scared of him. I was more worried he’d do something that would get him into trouble.
