“How do you want to do this?” I asked. “Big spoon, little spoon, or do you want my chest to be your pillow?”
“Am I big spoon or little spoon?” she asked, yawning again.
I barked out a laugh. “Whatever you want, baby.”
Her eyes softened as she looked up at me. “Little spoon,” she murmured.
After she turned over, I pulled her against me and wrapped an arm around her. Dropping a kiss on the top of her head, I breathed in her soft scent. I thought I’d be too amped to fall asleep quickly, but the warmth of her against me was like a sleeping potion. When her breathing shifted and her body relaxed into sleep, I quickly followed her.7AllieWaking up with Vaughn’s arms wrapped around me was a great way to start the morning. Sunshine was streaming through his tall windows, and a quick glance at the clock told me it was already eleven o'clock in the morning. I would have been happy to stay just like that for another six hours, but I felt Vaughn stir next to me.
Tilting my head back, I smiled up at him. “Good morning, sleepyhead.”
“Morning, baby," he rasped. “How did you sleep?”
I melted when he called me baby. I’d never realized how sexy an endearment could be. Of course, it didn’t hurt that his voice was all gravelly from sleep.
“I don't think I moved an inch all night long,” I answered as he rubbed his cheek against my neck. His morning stubble lightly scraped my skin, sending shivers down my spine.
“Other than rolling over to face me, you didn’t. Neither did I.” His hold on me tightened. “You felt too good in my arms. Even in my sleep, I didn't want to risk you rolling away from me.”
My heart melted at how sweet he was. I never expected to meet a guy as hot as Vaughn, who was also smart and kind. He was definitely a keeper. I just wished the timing was better since I needed to be in Chicago to film When the Rain Ends soon. But I wasn't about to let a little inconvenience like that stop me from exploring where things with Vaughn might go before I left, especially after seeing how well Gage and Morgan had navigated the long-distance thing so early in their relationship.
“Having your arms around me all night long was incredible. The last thing you had to worry about was me rolling away.” Half hiding my face in the crook of his arm, I admitted, “It would’ve been more realistic for you to be worried about me smothering you in your sleep with my cuddles.”
Vaughn pressed light kisses along my jaw from my ear to the corner of my lips. “Cuddle away, baby. I think I can get used to this.”
“Oh, yeah?”
Rolling onto his back, he took me with him and flipped me around until I was sprawled on his body. Then he brushed his lips over mine, with one of his palms cradling the back of my head. “You haven’t seen anything yet.”
“You might want to be careful since you’re setting the bar awfully high for yourself,” I warned, grinning down at him.
His lips curved up in a smirk. “Don’t worry. I can handle it.”
His other hand drifted down my back to settle on the curve at the top of my ass, pressing me closer. I felt his hard length and figured there was a sensual edge to his confidence. “Oh, yeah? What else have you got to show me?”
Instead of taking my response as an invitation to take advantage of our current location and get a little sexy, he surprised me by answering, “I was thinking we’d start our morning with me wowing you with my skills in the kitchen.”
“You can cook?” I asked in surprise. Morgan and I tended to eat out a lot since neither of us were experts in the kitchen, something my mother somehow both complained about and congratulated herself over since it meant we visited for meals more often than we would if we weren’t in desperate need of home cooking.
“I’m a whiz at breakfasts and not too shabby when it comes to the grill,” Vaughn boasted as he lifted me and set me on the mattress next to him. Then he rolled off and turned to reach a hand out to me. He didn’t let go until he’d led me into the kitchen and got me settled on a stool at the marble counter. “What’re you in the mood for? I can do eggs, waffles, pancakes, bacon, or sausage. The options are pretty much endless.”
“Bacon. Definitely bacon.” It was one of my favorite foods, and my stomach growled in anticipation. He grabbed a pound of bacon from the fridge and set it down on the counter. Looking at the package, I asked, “Are you going to make some for yourself, too?”
