I tiptoe across the room and scoop up Bull’s shirt from the floor before slipping it over my head. It falls down and sits just above my knees, and I find myself loving it.
I trudge out to the kitchen and get myself a coffee before pouring one for Zoey and Bull. I don’t doubt that they’re both going to want to sleep in, but there are two little girls who are going to make that incredibly hard.
I leave their coffees on the counter and take myself out to the deck. The morning breeze hits my skin, and surprisingly, it’s not too bad. I drop down onto a deck chair, take a welcomed sip of coffee, and look out at the stunning lake.
It’s simply beautiful here. If it wasn’t so far away from the rest of the world, I could live here.
A few minutes pass before the sound of a door opening in the distance catches my attention. I look down the row of cabins and find Zoey shaking her head as she stalks out of Jet’s place, sex hair and all.
I stifle a grin as she mutters to herself. “Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. What the hell was I thinking?” Zoey practically flies past Chief’s cabin, and I notice Jet step out behind her, watching Zoey hurry away with an amused smirk across his handsome face.
Zoey bolts up the stairs in front of me, probably hoping she can get into her bed before anyone realizes that’s not where she slept, but too fucking late.
I clear my throat and grin wide as she comes to a startling stop before me. Her eyes flick up from the ground and bulge out of her head. “Fuck,” she grunts, looking at me like a deer in headlights. I raise a brow, unable to wipe the look off my face. Zoey huffs and storms straight past me. “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Uh-huh,” I laugh moments before the door closes between us.
The next few hours go just as I expected. The girls wake with a ravenous craving for breakfast as Jet finds his way over, grinning at Zoey every chance he gets. Bull uses every single excuse under the sun to touch me, but no complaints here.
It’s a perfect day.
That is until the bikes are pulled out, and my heart falls right out of my chest. Ryan is just like my dad, she stormed towards the thing with excitement pouring out of her in waves. Bull taught her exactly what she wanted to know and never once let her out of his sight. She’s still got a bit of learning to go before either one of us would be comfortable with her doing it all by herself, but it’s a great start.
Jet took off with Zoey at one point, while Chief hung back and manned the barbeque, and Ax just grunted every now and then. What surprised me, though, was the way that all four of the guys looked out for my girls as if they were their own.
Once everyone had enough of the bikes, and the girls went down for their midday sleeps, Bull convinced us all that it was a great idea to go fishing. I should have known that was only part of the plan. Somehow, both Zoey and I ended up waist-deep in the middle of the lake. And after waddling around in the water, something tells me there aren’t actually any fish in there.
By the time I’m climbing into bed beside Bull, my heart couldn’t be fuller. It’s been an incredible day and it’s shown me a glimpse of what my life with him could be like, and I’ve never wanted it more.CHAPTER 15BULLThe wind whips through the open window as I drive down the highway with my girl beside me. It’s been an incredible weekend, and I’m devastated to see it over, but in all honesty, it’s bittersweet. While I don’t want this weekend to end, I’m also excited to get home and really start my life with Amelia.
I knew I wanted her since the second I laid my eyes on her, but these past few days have shown me that this is the real fucking deal. I want her in my life. I want to be a family, to show her and the girls all the love that they deserve.
I glance across at her with her feet up on the dash and the sun shining on her face. As if sensing my gaze upon her, Amelia looks across at me, and a bright, beaming smile lights up her face.
Fuck. She’s gorgeous.
I can’t help but reach across the center console and take her hand in mine, lacing our fingers together. She gives my hand a gentle squeeze before looking back out the window and letting the wind whip through her hair once again.
