“Amelia, goddammit! Answer me!”

That woke me up enough to sit straight up in the bed and knock the woman at my side off of me.

“It’s Adam,” I said, voice gruff. “Amelia’s right beside me. Hold on, I’ll get her.”

I rolled over and handed her the phone.

She wasn’t in any better shape than I was.

She turned it onto speaker then let her head fall back to the bed.

“Hello?” she mumbled through a tired slur.

“Amelia.”

It was her dad.

That was why he sounded so familiar.

“Right here,” she grumbled. “You woke me up, and I’ve only been asleep for like four hours.”

I looked at the clock on my dresser and realized that she was right.

Well, I had.

She’d fallen asleep earlier.

“Amelia,” her dad snapped. “Are you okay?”

She sighed and lifted up onto her elbows, brushing her hair out of her face as she said, “Yes. I’m at Adam’s house. I’m fine. Tired as fuck, but fine. Why?”

There was a long, silent pause and then there was a pounding on my door.

I got up, thankful that I’d thought to toss my sweatpants close to the bed last night.

I opened it to find Sam standing on my porch looking haggard.

“Is she here?”

In answer, I stepped back and allowed him inside. “Yes. She’s in the bedroom…”

Sam didn’t answer or say another word as he charged into the room.

I rubbed the sleep from my eyes and slammed the door closed, instantly more alert after having a rather large, pissed off man entering my room where my girl was practically naked.

“Get dressed,” Sam growled.

I almost followed behind, but King decided to bark up a storm at the door, letting me know rather quick that she needed to be let out. Or else.

I opened the door and followed King out, my eyes going through the sleepy neighborhood.

Nobody was up.

Not a single person.

I took the steps down to the grass, then moved to the bushes.

And, for good measure, while my dog was taking her pee break, I took one, too.

It was only as I heard laughter that I looked up to find Amelia staring at me incredulously through the living room curtains, the phone still pressed to her ear.

I winked at her and looked back down at my cock.

“You know,” I heard drawled from a few yards over. “You could’ve done that inside.”

I looked up to find Ashe, Ford’s wife, standing at the end of the walk, her hand on her distended belly.

I shrugged. “I could have, but a man just burst through my door pissed as hell, my dog needed to go outside, and I thought this was the better location of the two places I had options for.”

Ashe shook her head and fitted her earbuds into her ears. “If Ford asks when he bursts out the door in about two minutes, I went for a jog.”

Then she was off, surprising me with her swiftness.

I looked down, glad one of my sister’s great big flowers was covering my cock from view and continued my business.

Just as I was finishing up and letting the last few drops fall from my cock in hopes that this would be the time that I didn’t drip into my pants—why the fuck did I always manage to dribble in my pants?—Ford came stomping out of his house.

I tucked my cock back into my pants, rolling my eyes when the inevitable two drops came out regardless of my shaking, and found Ford glaring at me.

“What?”

“Did you see my wife?” he asked, standing with his hands on his hips, uncaring that he was in nothing but his underwear.

I nodded, gesturing to where I could just make out her figure in the distance. “She went on a run. Told me to tell you where she went.”

“Why?” He paused. “And did she see you peeing in your flowers?”

I nodded.

“You can’t do that,” he said.

“Why not?” I asked.

King crossed over the expanse of our yards to start licking Ford’s bare toes.

He cursed and jumped back as he pointed at my dog. “She didn’t shit in my yard again, did she?”

I shrugged. “I don’t know. Had my back turned. I was peeing, remember?”

Ford rolled his eyes and went back inside, grumbling about stubborn women.

I grinned and took my stairs two at a time until I arrived at my front door and pulled it open.

“Did Ashe like seeing you peeing in the flowers?” Amelia asked curiously.

I shrugged. “I have no idea. I don’t think so. The flower out there is pretty big.”

Amelia snorted.

I looked over toward the silent man standing in the room, staring at me like I’d defiled his sister.

Oh, wait. I had.

“Ummm,” I said. “What’s up?”

Amelia snorted. “My father is on the way over here. Apparently, a few die hard Rogan Germain fans decided to torch my place yesterday.”

I blinked.

“With all of my schoolbooks in it.” She sighed. “Do you know how much those were?”
