“Ford,” I whispered again.

His eyes met mine, and I knew the reason he hadn’t been looking into my eyes, but at where we were connected, was because he didn’t want to go too fast.

I saw the moment that he went from holding onto that control, to giving up.

His entire body went stiff. His hands on my hips, holding me close tightened, and his eyes flared.

It was right then, in that second, that I blew apart.

Like a wine glass hitting a concrete floor.

One second, I was whole, and the next, I would never be the same again.

My orgasm slammed into me like a two-ton brick. Not there one second, and just there in the next.

Ford climbed on top of me then, his body coming down hard onto mine, his mouth searching for mine in the blindness that our orgasms forced upon us.

I felt his body tense as his orgasm took him over, too.

But that was the last and only thought I had concerning him.

My fingernails raked down his back as I tried to find purchase where there wasn’t any.

My mind went totally blank as I tried to make sense of all the feelings that were coursing through me.

And when we were done, when my soul found my body once again, I opened my eyes to stare at the dirty ceiling tiles of my office.

“That was…” I couldn’t find words.

Everything. Perfect. Amazing. Life changing. Soul shattering.

All of those words and more.

“The only time,” he finished for me, biting the side of my neck and pulling the skin between his teeth.

I slammed my hand down onto his forehead, pushing him away.

He laughed and moved off of me, his cock leaving me feeling like he’d taken a piece of me with him that I would never get back.

Then I stared at his cock.

His bare cock.

His very hot, very bare, no longer sheathed in a condom bare cock.

The year isn’t even halfway over and all I gotta say is ‘what the fuck?’

-Ford’s secret thoughts

Ford

My phone went off, the emergency app we used for our SWAT calls sounding like a bullhorn in the very silent office before I could address what had just happened.

What could happen.

“Shit,” I breathed, reaching for my clothes.

I had them on just as fast as she did, but I didn’t miss her discreetly pulling the condom from her body and wrapping it up in a loose piece of paper before tossing it into the trash can beside her desk.

“You’re staying here. You’re not moving to Dallas,” I said as I pulled my boots on carelessly.

She looked at me over her shoulder and rolled her eyes.

“Keep dreaming, GMC,” she snarked.

I gritted my teeth, unable to come up with the right words to keep her here.

I wasn’t sure why, but this was important.

Her staying was important.

“Nobody will take care of you better than right here,” I said. “Dallas is big. It has a lot of people. And there are weirdos there.”

She gave me a droll look as she too pulled on her shoes.

“There are plenty of weirdos here,” she countered. “In fact, I’m looking right at one.”

I finished dressing and crowded her.

“You’re not leaving. You’re staying here.”

She swallowed hard.

“People hate me here,” she said.

I pulled her ponytail and forced her to look at me.

“Nobody hates you,” I said. “And if they do, they’ll answer to me.”

With that, I left the room, hoping what I said was enough to get her to stay.

Because I needed her to.

And not just because of what had just happened in there.

Because every time I thought about her leaving, moving somewhere where I would never see her, it made my heart feel like it’d taken a punch.

I made it into the SWAT locker room and immediately started to strip out of my clothes.

I was just going for my pants, thankful that my cock had gone mostly down, when there was a hushed silence that finally resonated with me.

“Whoa,” Louis said, eyes on me. “What the fuck happened to your shoulders?”

I looked down to see four angry lines starting at my shoulders and moving down toward my chest.

There were more on my back.

I could feel those there, too.

“Those are fresh,” Hayes said. “You were in the office today, weren’t you?”

Meaning I was stuck filling out all the reports that I’d gotten delinquent on. Or Bennett thought that I’d gotten lazy on and wanted more information.

“What’s it to you?” I asked, shrugging on my black SWAT shirt that covered almost every single part of me from the neck down.

“It’s just that the only person I saw you with in the last hour was… oh holy shit,” Louis breathed. “Ford, you didn’t.”

I narrowed my eyes.

“You owe me ten bucks,” Hayes laughed.

My brows rose at that.

Louis scowled and pulled out his wallet, tossing a wadded up ten at Hayes’ face.

Hayes saw my confusion and explained.
