“Shit, man, I didn’t know she was in here.” Joshua crinkles his nose.
“She’s three months old and asleep, it’s fine. I was only gone for five minutes,” Natasha says, rolling her eyes. She grabs Ronan’s arm. “Come on, you have a wedding to get ready for. Sofina is waiting, mister.”
“Sofina never hears about this,” Joshua warns him. “She won’t let us babysit otherwise.”
“Dude, everyone already fucking heard it. We have monitors with all responsible adults. How do you think I heard you?”
Joshua’s mouth opens and closes. “What the fuck? Why didn’t I get one?”
“This…” Ronan waves a hand around the room, “is why. You two can’t keep your hands off each other for a couple hours.”
“We tried,” I defend, breaking out into a giggle.
“Unbelievable. You better make this shit quick. I’m getting married and you can’t be fucking late.”
“The quicker you stop busting my balls, the quicker she can empty them,” Joshua tells him, making us all cringe. Gross.
I swipe at my happy tears, choked up by the beautiful ceremony and overwhelming joy of being surrounded by people who love and truly care for one another. It’s good to be part of a family you chose for yourself. I sigh when Berlin Scandal takes the stage to play the first dance song. Sofina looks stunning in a fishtail white lace dress.
“Can you believe she had a baby three months ago?” I nudge Joshua.
“Kinda got reminded of it earlier,” he grunts.
Slapping his thigh, I sigh dreamily and lean against his arm. “Do you want marriage or a child first?” I ask him, testing the waters.
Drawing my face to his with a finger under my chin, he kisses the tip of my nose. “I want everything with you. I don’t care what order it comes in.”
Reaching up, I steal a kiss, deepening it when he tugs me onto his lap.
“That’s good,” I breathe, “let’s start with a baby then.” I bite my lip and place his hand on my stomach. It wasn’t planned. I’d missed a few days of my pill after a mix up with my prescription and now here we are. I’m only two months, but already feel so connected to the life inside me. So ready for this next chapter.
“Are you playing with me right now?” he chokes out, lines crinkling his brow.
“I don’t play games outside the bedroom.” I try to joke, but a lump clogs my throat and a tear drops from my eye.
“Oh my God.” He squeezes me to him, his hand tight in my hair as he crushes me in an intoxicating kiss filled with love and longing.
“I fucking love you,” he breathes. “Damn, Quinn, you’ve made me the happiest man on the planet.”
“You make me the happiest woman in the universe.”
We found each other through fantasy and created a reality of acceptance, healing, and most of all, love.
The End
