Ever had that one person you can’t get out of your head? For me, that’s Odysseus Volos, the only boy who ever saw me for something more than just an unpopular little four-eyed freak.
The problem is, he hates me.
I know because he treated me like dirt after our first and only date. We haven’t spoken or seen each other for ten years. I’ve got a law degree now, and Ody? I guess he’s working for his gangster father, doing unspeakable things to unsavory people.
But now I’m in over my head trying to fix my father’s problems. I’m standing in the worst part of town, talking to the owner of a gambling den, finding myself backed into a corner I don’t know how to get out of. And who should show up?
None other than Odysseus Volos.
He’s calling himself Oz these days, and the skinny kid I knew is now the human equivalent of a hulking bull, but it’s him. He’s confident, protective, ready to pluck me out of this underworld hell.
And if we can overcome dangers, mistrust and a ghost from my past, maybe there’s hope for us yet.
